The story of the Mask begins again in an all new series. This series will be both modeled after the original Mask and the Mask portrayed in the popular film. The series starts with the original origin within the first few pages, only this time Ipkiss is not killed after his rampage. The story soon shifts to Ipkiss in an insane asylum where he has been for many years. One day, Ipkiss finds that the mask has been mysteriously placed at the foot of his bed. Ipkiss, a frail man, easily gives into temptation and uses the mask to escape. The rest of the series will follow Ipkiss as he is on the lam all the while trying to deal with his guilt. Ipkiss wants to be rid of his troublesome alter-ego (like Bruce Banner and the Hulk), but, at the same time, he enjoys the power so much that he can’t bring himself to toss the mask (like Eddie Brock and his symbiotic suit). Popular characters from the original comic and film would be featured in this series: Agent Kellaway (formally Officer Kellaway, in this series Kellaway is an FBI agent that is leading the manhunt on Ipkiss), Peggy Brant (a reporter that was Ipkiss’s girlfriend before he was sent to the asylum), Tina (no longer a seductive club-singer, this Tina is a fellow inmate that Ipkiss has befriended and helped escape), and Dorian Tyrell (a loan shark that lost everything he had due to “Big Head’s” last rampage). The series would also introduce new characters: Miley Ipkiss (Stanley’s little sister), Jak Harley (a serial killer that’s been posing as “Big Head” since Ipkiss’s incarceration), Lionel Van Garret (a crime lord who knows about the power of the mask and wants it for himself), Benny Moore (Ipkiss’s former best friend), Deacon Kellaway (Agent Kellaway’s son and an ally of Ipkiss’s), etc.
