WB-handling the DC universe wrong

Lately, Marvelstudios is winning the battle of CBM's, but DC/Warnerbros is winning the battle as far as TV series cartoons go. But Movies bring in far, far more revenue. So Marvel...is kicking ass. But DC could have an equal arguement if they were handling this differently.

When it comes to Batman and Superman, DC/Warnerbros seems to do just fine. But they can't rely on the two most popular superheroes to bring in revenue every year. It seems in the next decade, Warnerbros wants to do a Justice League movie, and they want to create an 'alternative' DC universe which means disregard the Reynolds Lantern and Nolan's batman. Right there is a true symbol of greed. It might be 2019 when we get to see one. I don't wanna wait that long for the justice league film. I know the fans don't. Warner bros needs to handle this the right way.

I really, really want a GL sequel. Apparently, the version to be released in Australia is going to be longer and have a better story to it. (And possibly more action) WTF? If there is a Director's cut to the current one that is out in theaters today, and if it has a huge positive impact from buyers, then WB would've been taught a huge lesson-let the director do his thing. It is growing ever clearer that Campbell is not to blame. Its WB fault. I even have a theory that Campbell won't be back for the sequel because of the studio's meddling with the first movie. For the sequel, they need to get a good director, and let him have his way with it. A director that works well with Reynolds and Strong and one that wants to give the people what they want. If Director's cut is to come out, i will be more than eager to buy it. But for now, its speculations.

They need to hurry up and do a flash movie. It's a Superhero movie that's been aching to be made and its one that's very doable. As I've stated in my article about a Flash movie, I said the best choice for Barry Allen would be Garret Hedlund and the best choice for a director would be Doug Liman. But that was my opinion. You may have different ones. But I've heard from DC and Marvel fans alike that they want to see a Flash movie in the next five years.

For disregarding the Nolan Batman, I am totatlly not down for that. I think they should throw in a lot of money to keep the cast in after TDKR release, and to do a fourth film (do it good i mean) without Nolan. and have it end with ties to the justice league. Keep it dark, and have the Riddler as the villain (in my opinion) I love Bale as Batman and he would be excellent as the Dark Knight fighting along side other heroes in the Justice League.

As far as hopes for an Aquaman movie...well..

It seems now that WB is in panic mode; as if they don't have the answers. They would have the answers if they wouldn't rush themselves. They need to take their time and grab the right people for the right movie.

I'm not a huge Comic Book Geek, but the super hero movie genre has always excited me, and always will. I do not enjoy when people argue over CBMs like they're a religion, but i guess thats how most movie geeks are.

oh and if i had to really pic a side,
i mean really really really had to, then
DC, baby :)

but i really don't care about which is best. they both make me happy

Not completely different, just a bit longer. More development with the Corps and the space battles. At least that's what I heard

I don't see the problem in getting a JL film in 2019. It won't be rushed, and it can be built up properly although that's coming from somebody who would rather not see a justice League movie.

@Justsomeawesomekid- WB has been handling SUPERMAN just fine????

Are you joking?

Last movie SUCKED- Superman Returns.

The only one they ever get right is Batman. Superman they [frick]ed up completely and nearly re-killed the franchise thus Superman has been GONE for the past 4 years dude.

Batman is the only one getting love from WB. Count Superman among your heroes who aren't getting love.

@GDSuperguy- You're my friend. But please do your research. WB didn't own the Superman franchise during the Reeve-era of films.

Even Superman IV they didn't make.

The only Superman film they technically made was Superman Returns and they failed HORRIBLY.

I can't remember who it was...but one time i was ranting about how much WB screwed up on Superman with "Superman IV" and he told me that WB didn't own the film rights to Superman at that time. Or something like that...

So the only Superman film Warner Bros actually MADE was SR and we all saw that train-wreck.

WB/DC is run by entertainment executives who have no knowledge on the mythology.

So they hire people like Geoff Johns and a couple of writers to oversee the project. Imagine that, conflicting opinions flying around in a boardroom. Now they have to incorporate all those ideas into a common story. And we all know how that worked out.

On the other hand, with Christopher Nolan, he has a single vision, full creative control, and a good relationship with talented collaborators. This is teamwork, fueled by brilliant minds, who understand the story. DC should consider putting him in charge of creative development.

Marvel of course, has creative minds as their "suits". Kevin Feige, who shoves Easter Eggs down our throats, atleast has a vision and oversees that vision as the Producer of their films. He put together that Universe, he holds it together, he hires directors/writers best fit, and he knows what the fans want.

DC and Marvel are two different environments.

@reclusemaverick- Excellent observation on how different the DC and Marvel studios work.

Seems like Marvel Studios has "all their ducks in a row" so to speak.

DC/Warner just seem really, really confused.

@reclusemaverick: I'm sure Nolan won't want to be attached to DC projects for forever.

I'm confident he won't as well.

Wishful thinking? haha

Sorry, but who are the MARVEL fans who want to see a Flash movie???

Why do you think Flash is a movie that's been aching to be made?

DC fans are desperate for a Flash movie; that's a different thing altogether.

It's not about what the fans want but what has serious potential for mass-market appeal.

I really want a NAMOR the Sub-Mariner movie but whether or not it should be made depends o whether the proposed film has the potential for mass-market appeal.

If they just keep making shitty movies maybe they will go bankrupt , then DC can scrape some money together and start their own movie studio . Really though everyone knows what needs to happen DC needs to be in charge of making the movies about DC properties , it isn't rocket science .

@GDSuperguy- Yeah WB has owned DC since 1969 but not necessarily the film rights to Superman.
