Uncle George, give us Star Wars #7 : "Rise of the New Republic"

Lucas is a creative guy, and surrounded by 100's of creative people he pays $1,000,000's of dollars in payroll to, so why won't they give us Star Wars 7?
1)The Dark side of the force is gone from the universe, but now that the Empire has fractured,it has no central leadership, so this give the regional governor's an opportunity to power grab territory using what's left of the Imperial fleet.
2) Luke's the only Jedi and is now burdened with the responsibility to revive the Jedi order-find worthy recruits.
3)Han and Leia get married. Han has to still deal with his past and Leia now has to consider her 'destiny' regarding the force.
4)The Rebellion has the difficult task of soliciting the scattered systems throughout the galaxy to re-form the Galactic Senate.
5)Boba Fett has illegitimate children who want revenge on Skywalker-maybe one discovers his armor and weaponry,asks mom,"what's this?'", and swears to avenge the death of his father he never knew.
6) Piracy and organized crime spread due to the power void left by the Empires defeat, adding to Luke's problem- maybe Lado and Chewy can handle this scenario. Etc.,Etc.
So you see, the Star Wars universe is RIPE for new adventures, new stories, new worlds, new drama, new wars, new characters for a new generation.
NO EXCUSES LUCAS!!! GIVE US A NEW STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not just reboot? You're gonna have to recast anyways. Everyone is too old.

I don't know about an Episode VII, but I would love it if Lucas just loosened his grip a bit and allowed a new screen writer and director to take a shot at something along the lines of Knights of the Old Republic. When you look back on Star Wars the best ones were the ones he had the least to do with, Empire and Jedi (well mostly empire). Lucas just seems to be too controling now, and constantly rehashing and tweaking his classics in ways that are just unneeded and often stupid.

C'mon George give us some fresh stuff with a fresh perspective.

Dude, the Star Wars prequels sucked. What makes you think that a sequel would be better, And you can't recast the originals, they are irreplaceable!!

There are some things that should NEVER be remade, rebooted, recast or given an unessacary sequel or prequel. Star Wars is one of them

No new Star Wars until George lets someone else write and direct it.

I agree with BlackWindThaAstonishing: there are many books after RoJ that are grate candidates for a movie. Yet there would have to be a recast.

Darth Bane-Path of Destruction & The Rule Of Two

I'd say do an Old Republic movie, or better yet, a Force Unleashed movie. Quickly, while the actors are still young enough!

@jbak368

Why would he let some one else have his creation? Especially if only he knows the structure and elements of that franchise! Thats sort of like, me asking to borrow your car... come on... you can trust me right?

@Wolverine19742

It doesnt have to be a recast... they could use cgI to make them look younger ((X-Men3)) or just based the film on their older years... becuase if you ask me, Im hungry for another Star Wars flick!

Only way Episode 7 would work is if it's set 20 - 30 years in the future: Luke has a few followers and is rebuilding the Jedi Order slowly. But: in the prequels they made it seem as though the Jedi actively seek out people who are born 'Force Sensitive'... what happens to these people during the time that the Jedi Order was gone? Maybe a few are recruited by Luke, but with the Sith gone, they could be the new bad-guys, so to speak.

Have them train themselves in the force and become rogues, commiting acts of piracy and generally using their powers for bad instead of good.

With the old Empire in ruins, its a race between the Jedi and the Rogues on who can take control: The Jedi want to reestablish the old Republic, while the Rogues just want control.

Plus, Boba Fett isnt dead. He killed the Sarlacc while he was in its stomach, then flew back out of it (its been in comics and stuff)

I think a Old Republic or the story of Ulic Qel Droma (sp) would make a great movie, or do leia's kids, one turn dark (Darth Cadeus? (sp)) would be sweet.

Boba Fett is still alive, and his story would be pretty solid, he actually looked for clones and a life lengthening serum or some shit, cause he is a clone as well (un-altered but still...)

@bigshow - The only one of the originals Lucas wrote the screenplay for and directed was the first one. There's a reason Empire is the best film of the series, and the reason is that Lucas collaborated with other filmmakers. There's a reason the prequels all suck, and that's because Lucas got too up his own ass.

I want either a movie about the Sith Wars like in Knights of the Old Republic or a movie based on Force Unleashed with Sam Witwer.
