Who should play the Princess of Themyscira and the Gods and Goddesses that surround her? CookieKid has the answers!

Kathryn Bigelow as Director
Kathryn Bigelow is an amazing director who has a (as some may not know) following to direct a Wonder Woman movie,. With films like The Hurt Locker under her directorial belt I can see why so many people choose her. She's been noted for keeping steady with action, character development and keeping a consistent tone within her films. All these qualities is what Wonder Woman needs for her first true live action film.

Gal Gadot as Princess Diana/Wonder Woman
Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman. It's said and done and I don't plan on changing it one bit.  I don't want her to actually go by Wonder Woman though as this film will play out in different dimensions like Thor did. Princess Diana somehow someway ends up on Earth and is seen as a threat by Superman or Batman. Gotham (in Batman's case) or Luthor (in Superman's case) will brand the woman a hero and will become known by the media as 'Wonder Woman'. Gadot can pull of the badassery needed for a new-age Wonder Woman. She'll be a violent hero doing what she needs to do to protect Themyscira. No Invisible Jet, no Lasso of Truth. Sorry, just blades and hand to hand combat for this princess.

Viggo Mortensen as Zeus
Casted due to requests for an older actor in the role of Zeus, I chose Viggo due to his exstensive filmography in great movies such as Carlito's Way and Lord of the Rings. An actor I felt could not only pull off the look but also has the credibility and prowess to play a God and not come off as if he's trying too hard. It would be great to see Viggo in a CBM especially if he's playing Hera's scandalous husband and the father to Wonder Woman.

Lynda Carter as Hippolyta
You take the most-known Wonder Woman and you make those who pay attention nerd out by casting her as the mother of Gadot's Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter is not only a nod to the original television series but a strong actress who can no doubt holds her own on-screen.Lynda will be playing Hippolyta, the biologival mother of Wonder Woman through a cheating Zeus. Lynda will have to play someone trying to fight through the pain of being used and doing what's best for Themyscira.

Helena Bonham Carter as Hera
The actual wife of Zeus. Helena is a strong and one of my personal favorite actresses of all time. She will be great at portraying Hera's struggle as she puts up. with Zeus' crap all the time while simultaneously showing her power as she is the Queen of the Gods. With dabbles in such films like Big Fish, Sweeney Todd and Harry Potter, Helena is truly an underrated yet appreciated actress which will create the perfect blend of high-profile and up-and-comers for this cast.

Rosamund Pike as Artemis

Artemis is responsible for the badass part of Wonder Woman's 'beautiful badass' appeal. Goddess of the Hunt she attended the birth of Princess Diana under Hera's request adn blessed the child with knowledge of weaponry and combat. Rosamund Pike is no stranger to these types of films as she played Queen Andromeda in Wrath of the Titans. She also has films such as Pride and Prejudice and Jack Reacher.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Aphrodite

A foreign actress fetched atraight from the Hottest Women of 2014 list, she's the woman who blessed an infant Diana with eternal beauty and elegance. As far as her role, Aishwarya is just there to look pretty, at least for this first film. I did put thought into her being cast as I wanted to avoid cliche choices for Aphrodite such as Jessica Alba, Beyonce, etc.

Joe Manganiello as Hercules
A demi-God and the son of Zeus, much like Aphrodite he won't be used for much in this film except eye candy. Expect more apperances though, and possibly a solo movie.

Eric Bana as Ares
The God of War, Ares' main objective is to dispose of every deity until only he can rule. He waged a full-on war upon Diana's birth that lasted until her adulthood. He is said to be invincible and can only be killed by two mystical blades possessed by Wonder Woman. With roles in films like Troy and Star Trek, this is the only actor I feel is worthy enough to don the suit of the God of War.

Eva Green as Circe
Wonder Woman's wicked foil known for her immortality, stunning physical beauty, a powerful command over wicked sorcery, a penchant for turning human beings into animals (like her mythological antecedent), and a delight in humiliation. Eva was my only other candidate to play Wonder Woman and I decided beforehand that the runner-up would be cast as Circe. Looking back, I made the right decision. Green is one of the most talented actresses to date. I recall being enthralled by her performance in 300:Rise of an Empire and I expect her to bring that same energy to the Wonder Woman film adaption.

I like Zach Snyder but even I don't want him handling more than one franchise in the DCU. I'd be curious to see a female director's take on a superhero movie starring a female superhero. Long shot but Kathryn Bigelow?

Kathryn Bigelow would be an amazing director for WW.
& I'm in love with these casting choices! very powerful men and women on this list.

Rosamund Pike is a Goddess! so I like the casting of her as Artemis.

Why would WW be like MoS? Superman is the sci fi element, Batman is the crime thriller and WW is the high fantasy. It's not suppose to be a copy and paste of Superman's mythos, Mantinium.
Klone
Klone - 4/27/2014, 4:37 AM
Anyway, it all depends on whether or not Gadot is actually good as WW. The character requires a lot of emotional depth and she has to pull that off along with looking like the character and having the screen presence. For a solo film, the writing is very important. I despised the animated 2009 film so I am hoping they don't take inspiration from that.

Oh and Mantinium if you're reading, stop proclaiming that I hate Flashpoint Paradox. I liked that film so you proclaiming I hate it is nothing but a lie.

While I think so many male directors have amazing talent at truly portraying women on screen, I would love to see a female director at the helm, espeocally one like Bigelow who has proven she has what it takes to direct a gritty, action, character driven story.

@CookieKid247

Kathryn Bigelow as director for Wonder Woman I actually like that idea just as seeing Gal Gadot being cast as Wonder Woman I think that she is a unique choice that's for sure

As Zeus I definitely would not go with Luke Evans and why? Because he is just so young for the role and not to mention he's played Zeus before in another movie in Immortals and not to mention the idea of him and Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman's parents does not appeal to me at all

Lynda Carter as Hippolyta is perfect because what better way to involve her in the Wonder Woman franchise by having her play Wonder Woman's mother, makes perfect sense really when you think about it

As Hera, Helena Bonham Carter makes perfect sense too, and I can just picture her as Hera too

As Artemis, Rosamund Pike I definitely like her too for this role so you get no argument from me there

As Aphrodite I definitely agree with your choice, I think she would make a unique Aphrodite that's for sure

For me Joe Manganiello is Hercules and if there was ever a movie for Hercules in either the DC or Marvel department then he would be perfect for it

Eric Bana as Ares, definitely perfect for this role so I agree

As Circe, Eva Green is perfect for it too

Overall great fan cast but the only pick I didn't agree with whole-heartedly and vehemently was Luke Evans as Zeus, but other than that the rest of your fan cast was great

So out of 10 for me, you get a 9/10, if Luke Evans wasn't cast as Zeus here and you had gone with someone much older in the role then you probably would have gotten a 10/10 from me

I like parts of the cast, but my fear is that if you surrounded Gadot with people like Eva Green, Eric Bana, and Luke Evans than she'd appear even more cardboard and uninspired than she did in her previous film. Sometimes putting a lesser known actor alongside industry heavies helps to elevate them, and encourages them to bring up their game. Other times it just highlights their lack of talent and ability.
I have a suspicion this would be the latter. That said, I do like the casting of Green and Bana, though I think Evans is too young for Zeus; he played that role once before and failed to make much of an impression on me then. I don't see why it would be different now.

I'd also be concerned about casting Lynda Carter in any role. Wonder Woman needs to move forward as a character, and as a franchise, and using this movie to write love letters and dote on previous material is going to bury it, just like it buried Superman Returns. Her contribution to the character was great in her time . . . but that time has long since passed, and it is absolutely imperative that we move forward from it, and not rehash old ground.

I think WW should keep her lasso of truth, too. She doesn't have a lot of unique tools, and it helps differentiate her power set from Superman, and the other super strong, nigh invulnerable characters of the DC universe.

Getting a bit sick of Carter as Hippolyta. It's shoehorned in there for the sake of fanservice, not finding the best person for the role.

With Viggo Mortensen cast as Zeus, I would say it is somewhat of a better pick, certainly better than Luke Evans as Zeus that's for sure

The irony. Back when I did my God of War fan cast (a video game franchise) I cast Carter as Hera.
