Now To The Fan Cast

Green Arrow/Josh Holloway (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Lost.)

Josh Holloway: Joshua Lee "Josh" Holloway is an American actor and model from Free Home, Georgia. He is best known for his role as James "Sawyer" Ford on the American television show Lost. Alot of people want him as Green Arrow. He is personally not my choice, but i think for a western 1865 green arrow he would be perfect.

Green Arrow: this Green Arrow is the most serious out of the whole group. He's not a mute, but he doesn't talk that much unless he needs to. He was the hardest man to bring in the JLA out of all of them. His real name is Oliver McQueen

Batman/Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Trilogy, 3:10 to Yuma)

Christian Bale: Christian Charles Philip Bale is an English actor. Best known for his roles in American films, Bale has starred in blockbuster films and smaller projects from independent producers and art houses. I know, I know. " HE ALREADY PLAYED BATMAN! HE CAN'T PLAY HIM AGAIN! YOUR SO UN-ORIGINAL! YOU CAN'T FANCAST RANT, RANT, RANT!", but Christian Bale is a GREAT Bruce Wayne and 3:10 to Yuma is a western move remake that he starred in. I think that this is a completely different role than the Chris Nolan Bruce Wayne. And about the guns in my movie i wouldn't mind letting him have guns, but since my movie would get hate from the fan boys i would use rubber bullets or a crossbow that shoots batarangs shown in the fan trailer by "Edit Ninja" below.

Batman:Batman would mostly stay the same as he is now, but he would be like an american Zorro. He would use a sword and he would have a crossbow that shout batarangs. This Batman comes out during the day when he's desperately needed or when he's with the JLA. In our modern times batman has technology we dont yet, so this Batman can too. He should have a aircraft called the bat. He sits in it and controls the wings with levers and nobs. I have a vision in my head that's very hard to describe. His name in this universe stays the same.

3:10 to Yuma Trailer

Green Lantern/Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained, Ray)

Jamie Foxx:Eric Marlon Bishop, professionally known as Jamie Foxx, is an American actor, singer-songwriter, rapper, stand-up comedian, and talk radio host. After seeing the Django Unchained trailer for the first time the first thing i said was "THAT WAS SO BOSS". I want to see that movie so BAD! When i first thinking about doing this fan cast i though "Who should Play Green Lantern?" Than it hit me. JAMIE FOXX. I want him to play the same kinda role he does in Django unchained. He's not the full on comedy release person (who is the next to be cast), but he still has humorous parts throughout the entire film.

Green Lantern: Johnathan "John" Stewart is an ex-slave. He escaped the plantation on his way to the north ALONE. What he thinks is the north star is really a spaceship hurtling towards earth. It crashes. An alien inside the ship tells Stewart to take the ring. He becomes Green Lantern. Another possible origin, which is closer to Django Unchained's story is that Stewart escapes and his caught and taken back to his plantation owner. On the way back a man named
Abe Sr. (last name unknown) kills the bounty hunter who caught Stewart. He introduces himself to Stewart and gives him the ring. Tell me which origin you like better.

Flash: the Fastest Guns In the West( thanks to Netman0007 for the name)/Ryan Gosling(Gangster Squad, Drive)

Ryan Gosling: Ryan Thomas Gosling (born November 12, 1980) is a Canadian actor and musician. He began his career as a child star on the Disney Channel's Mickey Mouse Club (1993–95) and went on to appear in other family entertainment programs including Are You Afraid of the Dark? (1995), Goosebumps (1996), Breaker High (1997–98) and Young Hercules (1998–99). His first serious role was as a Jewish neo-Nazi in The Believer (2001), and he then built a reputation for playing misfits in independent films such as Murder by Numbers (2002), The Slaughter Rule (2002), and The United States of Leland (2003). He would be a great Flash anyway, but i think he'd be AMAZING as a western one. This decision mostly came from Gangster Squad. He would ultimately be the comic relief type of guy.

FLASH: Bartholomew "Barry" Allen, was a treasure hunter. One day on a quest he entered a mystical cave and found a stone with a glowing yellow symbol on it that resembled a lightning bolt. Above the stone was a whole in the ceiling. He touched the stone. A storm started and a lighting bolt came through the whole, hit the rock and ricocheted off of the stone and hit Barry. He then gained the ability to run at the speed of light. They call him the fastest guns in the west because his abilities allow him to shoot bullets faster then any other man in the west.

Superman/Henry Cavill(Man of Steel, Immortals)

Henry Cavill:Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill is a British actor. He has appeared in the films The Count of Monte Cristo, Stardust and Immortals, and played the role of Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk, on the Showtime series The Tudors, from 2007 until 2010. Yes I know another recast, but you gotta hear me out. I don't know why, but i feel that Henry Cavill would be AMAZING in a western film. I think that his look is great for a western movie also

It'd be awesome to see him look like that in a Western movie (i mean the scruffy beard facial look, NO HOMO).

Superman: This superman would have the same origin, but some of his powers would be taken away.

Current Powers:
-Solar Battery: As a Kryptonian, Kal-El possesses the ability to absorb the solar energy from yellow stars.

-Super-Strength:Superman has the ability to physically lift impossibly massive amounts of weight. Superman easily surpasses the Class 100 strength level (this is the ability to lift over 100 tons under normal conditions) and has no known limit.

-Super-Speed: Superman has the ability to move and fly incredibly fast. He shows the ability to achieve speeds faster than light. His exact limit is unknown, but it is shown that he is not as fast as Flash.

-Telescopic, Microscopic, X-Ray, and Heat Vision:Kal-El is able to see over great distances and perceive even the smallest of objects. This vision also allows him to see through the atomic structure of an object, though he is unable to see through lead.

-Super Hearing:Kal-El has the super human ability to hear all sounds at any volume or pitch and across any distance, presumably as long as there is atmosphere to carry the sonic vibrations.

-Superhuman Stamina: Superman’s Kryptonian physiology allows him exert himself to physical peak for an undetermined amount of time. When Kal-El is under a star with a yellow spectrum he is constantly replenishing his solar reserves. When Kal-El is under a G type dwarf star with a yellow spectrum his solar energies are constantly being replenished.

-Invulnerability:n the New 52 it is shown that Superman's younger self was not entirely invulnerable. Continuous electric shocks hurt him but rest will heal him. A bullet train going 200 mph colliding with him was shown to pop his eardrums and gave him a nosebleed. As Superman grew older his powers increased and he is much more resistant to harm. His "suit" acts as an armor that increases his protection against damage. Superman has been seen to withstand conflicts from various alien life forms that have caused massive damage. The limits of his invulnerability are still unknown. Superman has been shown as being able to survive Darkseid's Omega Beams in the New 52 (while wearing his indestructible armor), but, they were capable of knocking him unconscious.

-Flight:In the new 52 it is shown that in the early days of Superman could only leaps tall building and didn't have the ability of flight yet much like Golden Age Superman. While Superman's body is charged with solar energy he is able to emit a gravitational field that enables him to defy gravity. Kal-El has extreme mobility while he is in flight allowing him to fight, change course, and also carry great weights. While in Earth's atmosphere Kal-El is able to move at supersonic speed; while in space, he can move at superluminal speeds. Kal-El tends to avoid moving at FTL speeds while in a planet’s atmosphere so that he does not harm the area around him. Kal-El has been seen flying from the Earth to the moon in mere seconds.

-Super Breath / Freeze Breath:Kal-El has the ability to suck in a large amount of air into his lungs and either hold it within him for a long period of time or create strong forces of wind with it. Kal-El also has the ability to freeze his enemies using his breath. He is able to control the temperature with which he expels this power. Superman's ability to chill the large intake of air comes from his lungs compressing the inhaled air and then upon its exhalation, the sudden increase in the volume of gas causes its temperature to drop dramatically.

-Longevity:Yellow sun powered Kryptonians can live almost indefinitely.

-Total Recall:Kal-El has the ability to instantly recall events that he pays specific attention to or that hold great emotional significance to him. When he has absorbed solar energy he has the ability to solve problems with superhuman speed.

1865 Powers:
-Solar Battery: As a Kryptonian, Kal-El possesses the ability to absorb the solar energy from yellow stars.

-Super-Strength:Superman has the ability to physically lift impossibly massive amounts of weight. Superman easily surpasses the Class 100 strength level (this is the ability to lift over 100 tons under normal conditions) and has no known limit.

-Superhuman Stamina: Superman’s Kryptonian physiology allows him exert himself to physical peak for an undetermined amount of time. Yes i am not giving him flight. Its a western i dont want him to be too overpowered.

Wonder Woman/Megan Fox(Jonah Hex,Transformers)

Megan Fox: Megan Denise Fox is an American actress and model. She began her acting career in 2001, with several minor television and film roles, and played a regular role on the Hope & Faith television show.Megan fox is SMOKING HOT and thats a must for WW. Her role in Jonah Hex made Me choose her

Wonder Woman:JUST KIDDING!!!!

WONDER WOMAN/Adrianne Palicki(Friday Night Lights, G.I.Joe: Retaliation)

Adrianne Palicki:Adrianne Palicki is an American actress best known for her role as Tyra Collette on the NBC television series Friday Night Lights. I know a recast again. I chose Palicki because i think she deserves to be Wonder Woman. She is a talented actress and she looks like the wonder woman in the picture

Wonder Woman: This wonder woman is not an amazon, but her weapons were given from the Greek Gods.

Powers:
-Superhuman strength

-Endurance and Durability

-Super Speed

-Enhanced healing factor

-Divine Wisdom

She has many power similarities to Superman so she almost started to call her self Superwoman, but realized on her own that she wanted to be her own person.

Come to think of it, I think this idea could be a great spin-off of sorts. Only instead of Cavill I think it'd be cool to have Crowe aka Jor El instead of Kal El. But I guess that sends me on a tangent of ideas where the characters aren't the exact replica of their comic counterpart, so names wouldn't be the same either. Maybe some kinds of amalgamation or something to hint at a different iteration of the superheroes.

The way I come to think of it is that Wonder Woman could be Palicki's chance to take the role without interrupting any recast for current times. Foxx is an obvious choice and the story works well with the time frame; however, since there can be multiple GLs, it wouldn't be so hard to believe this GL was a back up of sorts for Abin Sur (and you can mask that relation however you like). The Flash is a probable retelling as there have been many different forms of The Flash, so it wouldn't mess with continuity that much. I suppose continuity is my only quarrel with the story. I could see Bale as the part as well, and I think it works having a name hinting at Bruce's ancestors- side not, Alfred did mention (in Batman Begins) that the caves of Wayne Manor were used back during the underground railroad. This could serve as the headquarters in your story. As for Green Arrow, as long as his name isn't exactly like the modern day one it's understandable that he could be a past version without ruining any continuity of sorts.

But I really like the casting (for the most part) and the story. I would suggest that the superheroes don't have as much power as they do now. I know you limited some abilities, but I'd find a way to better ground them in that time frame. Green Arrow, Flash, and Batman are good. Superman seemed pretty grounded as well although I question the vision aspect only because I fail to see that as a story element, but rather a cool thing to have. I feel each power should serve as a purpose and essentially, the story's intentions should break those powers down to define the necessity to a League being formed. Perhaps Superman and Wonder Woman are nearly identical aside from him having super speed (just faster than her, they could both be fast) and possibly be able to jump super high (single bound kind of thing) while she has her lasso (naturally) and bracelets. Green Lantern is hard because everything comes from mental constructs and he's recognized as being one of the most powerful beings in the universe, so maybe (given that things aren't made of metal or stone, for the most part) he could have the weakness of wood like Earth 2 GL does (I believe). That way he'd prove superior to any member (in the event of some clashing), but would still require team work as he couldn't take down whoever the villain is without help.

As for the villain, I for some reason want to see a western Legion of Doom/Injustice League, but only with a few incarnations. Vandal Savage comes to mind, but then there's this continuity problem where it would be probable to see him in other, more modern versions of the characters. Maybe Dr. Light as he seems to have a hold over all members, minus Green Arrow, Batman, and Wonder Woman (though the threat of black holes is still bad). So maybe Giganta? Hah. I think it's worth brainstorming, but I guess the direction I had in mind was one that brought to the big screen villains who wouldn't typically apply to modern adaptation.

Amazing. Such an original fancast to even do and your picks are great! I'm fine with the recast of Bale because he has done westerns and done damn well in them! I'd also consider Josh Brolin though who's just made for the Cowboy role. I would've liked someone else for Superman though but oh well. Good joke with Fox, Palicki is a great choice! Probably the best tough female actress out there right now. I really love the Foxx pick, and you can't go wrong with Gosling either. Excellent work here.

I would cast Thomas Jane as the western Batman, but instead of guns or a crossbow I would give him some knives instead.

for Superman I think you should not have Cavill since he is already Superman. I would go with Owain Yeoman, I think he would fit well in a western.

the rest are good.

@Advocate Your ideas are great, but there are two things i want to comment on.

1. This would take place in a whole new universe. Some of the heroes could actually make sense with the continuity, but i don't think that would be as good of a story where you can explore things freely and not worry about things like continuity.

2. I agree that the whole grounded thing is a big aspect of the story. I'm glad everyone understands that. If superman had all his abilities he wouldn't need the justice league. I also don't want it to focus to much on aliens because with an alien invasion in a story that takes place in 1856 it wouldn't make sense and would be very cheesy (Cowboys and Aliens Anyone).

With Green Lantern though its a different Story. I've made the argument to countless people that if Hal was experienced enough or ANY Green Lantern was then he could kick and other person or things butt. He has the most power out of any superhero and his powers can be stated in one sentence "Can create anything with his ring if he has the will power to do so". In a western though that is the definition of overpowered. Here are my points within a point though
2a. Its 1856. This is before a PLANE was even invented. John Stewart could imagine alot of things, but a man who lives in 1865 when using electricity was first possible about 65 years before that. The human imagination is limited. Have you ever tried to imagine a new color. That had no resemblance to any other color. Exactly! You can't do it because our mind doesn't know anything else. If he doesn't know what a automatic gun is he can't imagine it. A giant fist and a few pistols won't do him any good.
2b. He needs to have the willpower. That's a weakness on its own. He needs to concentrate on only that and has to be brave enough in the situation. I could see this seen happening and Jamie Foxx carrying it out very well.
A man who can turn his body into fire is attacking the city. Its up to Green Lantern to save the day. The man shoots constant fireballs at Green Lantern, but he forms a shield. While he's trying to withstand the power of the blasts a SMOKING black woman walks past him on the street. Green Lantern says "Wow she's beautiful. 'Ey honey! Come over here" While he says that he loses focus and the shield disappears and Green Lantern gets hit by a fireball and burns to ashes.
I could see that happening couldn't you?

@RedHood13 No, please. I enjoy the ranting, so long as it's intension in transparent enough. Anyway, the whole separate universe thing clarifies a lot for me then. And mentioning the idea that GL wouldn't have the ability to imagine a plane or something makes sense as well (to a certain degree). But first off, if this story is an original universe on its own then I feel the actors cast as the members shouldn't resemble any connection to the universe that is set up today. Just to avoid character confusion. I think Cavill and Bale are great choices and it's a shame to denounce their inclusion, but I feel part of this re-imagining is to introduce others not yet recognized in that light. There's just too much confusion by saying "this is Bruce Wayne, and that's Clark Kent (?) and so that's Batman, and that's Superman. And they're played by the same actors, but meant to be in a separate universe." My mind would try to reject the comparison, but still grapple with the idea.

As for GL, this is an obvious argument for any version of GL and not just the 1856 one. Essentially, doesn't an able mind create the plane? I mean not on its own, but the idea at least. And there's already the idea that Batman has his flying machine (The Bat), something I feel should be taken out if GL isn't allowed plane constructs. I could see him imagining old school constructs, and I'm not arguing with the constructs at all, but it's just a logical fallacy that he's restricted to will something into existence if it isn't in existence yet.

A second thought on GL is that I couldn't see GL becoming distracted in the manner you describe above. Maybe in an origin story, in the same vein Reynold's portrayal would be, but not the noble hero GL is. An idea for the morals involved here is that Clark Kent was considered for the ring bequeathing, and I believe that is because the nature of each character is similar. Only for Hal and John and the rest, they are more loyal to the force. So Superman works outside the law and Green Lantern works within the lay (being a space cop and all), even if the law is relatively defined. I could see other kinds of distractions causing strain on his powers (since I'm assuming this team up would briefly touch on origins) to reflect the struggle with such a great power. Say for instance, GL is helping to stop a train from colliding with something (early on in his experience) and gets caught off guard by cheap shots, or citizens in distress not located nearby the train happening. Might be too much power to handle to juggle both the safety of a family as well as the power of the train. That kind of thing. However, I would only see this is a temporary problem since I feel if you slowly approach this as GL's weakness, people will disagree about the character in comparison to the comics. John Stewart admired the golden aged heroes so it kind of derails to imagine him falter on the path to superheroic duty, similar to Billy Batson admiring Superman and the like. Although, I do understand the appeal of the hot dame present. I could see this scene happening with Jamie Foxx's character, but something about it doesn't resonate well with my current understanding of Stewart's GL.

Oh, and I was definitely trying to come up with something that didn't focus on aliens for that very same reason. It could be argued that the theme's being overplayed, but as my understanding goes, it seems more of a literary tool, a vehicle for the unknown that we all tempt so much. Still, it is seen as cliche so I thought some semi-dark villains not yet recognized would work.

I still hold my point, while knowing now this wasn't the intention, that a continuity acceptance with story and characters could work wonders for DC's universe. Similar to how Marvel is now working on Guardians of the Galaxy. I know it's not futuristic or anything, but it just offers up another window to the cinematic universe. And if someone like Vandal Savage were used in this DC historic piece, it could leave an open ending to more appearances, or a monumental debut (aside from the above story) in some turmoil based vengeance against these superheroes. It's a long shot of course, but even if it weren't a movie I'd settle for a novel spin off for DC's cinematic universe. Then the characters could be reflected in the fancast's image.

For all the haters who might see this. Most of these people i wouldn't THINK about casting if i was casting a regular JLA movie. Josh Holloway is not my choice. Garret Hedlund is my choice or Stephen Amell. Yes i want the TV universe to be connected to the Movie universe. Green Lantern John Stewart is definatley not Jamie Foxx for the modern one. Superman is Henry Cavill, but that's the only one i would recast. Batman would be played by Matt Bomer or Michael Fassbender or for an older one Jon Hamm. Wonder Woman i don't even know who could play her. So for all you dickheads out there that will say that im not original, go [frick] yourself and lck your moms tits
Advocate
Advocate - 8/7/2012, 10:10 AM
@RedHood13 Is it just me or would Holloway be a great Aquaman? I'd say Bomer would be a pretty good Bruce Wayne, but his Batman might only go as far as replicating Bale's (so as long as he doesn't do that). I would go as far to say that Gosling wouldn't be my pick for a modern day Flash. He seems more suitable in 1865 Flash. I'd rather see Scott Speedman for the role (similar to Cooper, good age, serious tone and mild good guy presence) of Barry Allen. Wonder Woman is hands down Lynn Collins. And I agree that Amell's tv presence should be incorporated into cinematic scale.

This all just goes to secondly cement the idea that these 1865 picks aren't believable for modern fancast and I don't think that was the intention. Should probably read more of the article instead of skim over the pictures. This isn't preschool. Then again, most people have that depth of attention span.
