FANTASTIC FOUR: Marvel Studios Rumored To Have Offered The Role Of Human Torch To Paul Mescal

Another Fantastic Four rumor here, and this report is claiming that Marvel Studios has offered the role of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, to Academy Award-nominee Paul Mescal...

Another day, another Fantastic Four casting rumor, but this time it's not for Sue Storm or Reed Richards.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, recent Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal (Aftersun) has been offered the role of Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch. We have no idea if he's accepted or not, but the highly in-demand actor is set to play the lead in Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel, which is scheduled to begin filming soon, so there could be some overlap.

No cast members have been announced for Marvel Studios' reboot, but Mila Kunis (That '70s Show, Black Swan) recently revealed that she knows who is going to appear in the movie (possibly just as Invisible Woman), so we may get official word fairly soon.

Adam Driver is said to be in final talks to play Mr. Fantastic (again, nothing official), and both Galactus (possibly Antonio Banderas) and Silver Surfer are expected to appear.

Matt Shakman in on board as director, with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer currently working on the script. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

Fantastic Four is currently set to hit theaters in 2025.

He’s a really good actor and the right age (close to Holland), but I just can’t see him in the role. Maybe because he just played a dad in that movie recently, it would feel weird for him to play younger now.

@Itwasme - Will you see he's Irish in the movie? Or will he speak with an American accent?
For some reason they never paint black actors white so they would look the part.

@TheyDont - not too long ago Irish and Italian were considered different races - hence the Joke.

I think Marvel needs to get ahead of all of these casting rumors and confirm someone already. It's kinda getting out of hand. But, oh God, when it's time for the X-Men, it's gonna be worse, lol.

@comicfan100 - I'm actually looking forward to all the rumors that are going to pop up about them. I'm especially excited to hear all the contenders for the next Cyclops so we can finally move on from both of the terrible Fox iterations.

@MCUKnight11 - wonder what age range are they going for with the x men

the x men are one of those groups of characters that have aged (although weirdly not every character)

they going college age or teacher age

@MCUKnight11 - I really hope Cyclops gets the Captain America treatment, at least at first. Make him the moral center of the team and a genuinely good dude. Down the road do the Schism stuff, which in my opinion made the character really interesting, but please start him off as the capable boy scout leader.

Same trusted source that told you Kunis was playing The Thing I’m sure.

@Winston19 - I feel like a lot of these tabloid sites and rumors are definitely ruining the hype for a lot of these movies. The constant lying and rumors make people burned out.

considering how new this guy seems to be on the scene at least in terms of films, this is actually something that could be true

this guy isn't exactly on the top of anyone's fancast list or a big name celeb

it doesn't feel like an obvious choice like you usually see

Haven't seen any of his work, but I've heard he's pretty talented. He definitely does look like he could be Johnny Storm. Honestly, I'm hoping most of the rumors turn out to be bogus though. Adam Driver is a great actor and I'll give him a chance if he actually is Reed, but he's certainly not someone I necessarily want to see take the role. Mila Kunis being cast as The Thing is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard of. Antonio Banderas as Galactus is interesting actually, but I do feel it's too early to introduce him.

He’s a pretty good actor who probably wouldn’t take the part

Galactus is involved too early i’m already uninterested. Adam Driver as Mr Fantastic does not look good
