FANTASTIC FOUR Receives Worst CBM CinemaScore Ever

Yikes! Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot obviously didn't go down well with critics, but it seems general audiences were just as unimpressed, as the film has received the worst ever CinemaScore for a big studio superhero flick. Do you think it deserves all the backlash?

Fox and director Josh Trank can continue to blame each other for the way Fantastic Four turned out for as long as they like, but cinema-goers don't care why they've just sat through a bad movie - only that they didn't get their money's worth. According to THR, this past Friday night audiences gave the reboot a C- CinemaScore, which is apparently the worst grade for a marquee superhero title made by a major Hollywood studio since CinemaScore was founded back in 1979. Yes, even the likes of Catwoman and Elektra managed to score a B!

Things just keep getting worse for this flick (which in truth, is really not terrible... at least, not until the end) which also currently sits at an unprecedented 9% on Rotten Tomatoes. Fox maintains that they're forging ahead with a sequel, but if this first instalment continues to bomb at the box office that really wouldn't make much sense.

What do you guys think of this whole debacle? Sound off in the usual place.

I don't think that's anything to worry about. Anyone that reads comics knows about the MCU and the rights situation with Fox, and they are more than ready to explain this to the GA.

And, it would be easy to realize that this is not connected to the MCU, it doesn't feel like the same universe and there are no nods to the MCU, etc, etc. Fans of the MCU and of Marvel Studios know that this isn't connected

If anything this is worse for Fox, because people will realize that this isn't connected to the MCU and be relieved and then upset with Fox because of how bad Fant4stic is and how bad of an adaptation and representation it is of the characters. They even marketed this by saying, "From The Studio That Brought You DOFP"

A lot of us have been saying that for months......it's sinking in now....how bad this movie is.....

If MS gets a deal from FOX or they get the rights back.....I don't think they should make another F4 movie in the next 5 years.....just introduce the characters and villains in the McU...

Glad I didn't waste my money on this, funny I've never seen a ff film in theaters. And I don't intend to till Fox gives the rights up where they belong.

@AlexanderLykins

I'm dumbfounded that there's people that believe their rights should still remain at Fox.

"Fox maintains that they're forging ahead with a sequel"

If that is true, then this may be all Marvel needs to go before the courts to propose that FOX is damaging the property beyond repair, and they'll just get the IP back and FOX will get nothing.

Though I know there'll be no such plans for a sequel after this debacle. FOX, like any other corporation, answers to the shareholders. There's exactly ZERO chance that shareholders would permit a sequel to this atrocity. That would be tantamount to opening a briefcase full of hundred dollar bills totalling over $100M and lighting it on fire in the center of the city and then walking away.

Will. Not. Happen.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that someone's gonna be out of a job after this mess. Someone in FOX studios is gonna be "relocated" or will "resign". Have no doubt though that someone is gonna be led to a stake with this travesty. Whenever the next shareholder's meeting is scheduled at FOX, expect it to happen just prior or just after.

A shakeup will happen. Mark my words.

And Trank will never see another big budget movie in my lifetime. He's strictly indie and low budget fare from here on, and not because he's incapable...he's just unprofessional. That one tweet (regardless of how true it is/was) cost him any shot at helming another big budget flick. Ever. Airing dirty laundry like that is straight up going off the reservation, and no one will forget it.

LMAO.....ahhhh good times....down in Fraggle Rock.

"There's a climactic battle, of course, but it's rather anemic, generating about as much suspense as found on any given episode of Fraggle Rock."
