Has Marvel Studios found its Invisible Woman? According to a new rumor, Jodie Comer is looking likely to be announced to play Sue Storm in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot at this weekend's D23 Expo.
This is not the first time the Killing Eve star's name has been mentioned in connection with the role, as she was part of a rumored "shortlist" that found its way online last week along with Lily James (Pam & Tommy), Amanda Seyfried (Les Misérables), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), Saoirse Ronan (Little Women), and Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Fallout). However, it sounds like Comer may have nabbed the gig.
On the latest episode of his YouTube show, John Campea claims that he's heard from three separate sources that Comer is the studio's pick to play Storm, and her casting is expected to be made official this Saturday.
Campea has been right in the past, but he's also been way off, so we'll just have to see if this one pans out.
Last week, radio broadcaster Emmet Kennedy Tweeted out the names of some other actors he has it on good authority have been enlisted to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Phase 5 and beyond. Comer's name was also on that list, along with John Boyega, Henry Cavill, Daisy Edgar-Jones, John Krasinski, Giancarlo Esposito and Denzel Washington.
If Krasinski is returning to the MCU, we assume it'll be to reprise his Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness role as Reed Richards, but there's always a chance he's been enlisted to play a different character entirely.
Comer shot to fame playing the murderous Villanelle in Killing Eve, and has since appeared in the likes of The Last Duel and Free Guy.
WandaVision director Matt Shakman recently signed on to helm Fantastic Four, which is currently set to hit theaters in 2024.
