FANTASTIC FOUR Trailer Breaks Records For Fox; Simon Kinberg Comments On Success
Despite the fact that fans have been worrying about the lack of promotion for Josh Trank's Fantastic Four, Fox's gamble paid off! It's been announced today that the first trailer broke records for the studio, and writer/producer Simon Kinberg weighs in on that news after the jump...
20th Century Fox has revealed today that the first trailer for Fantastic Four was viewed 42 million times within the few days of its release. That breaks their current record, topping the the X-Men: Days of Future Past teaser. Both movies share writer and producer Simon Kinberg, and he had this to say about its success in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "We took our time with that traile. What we were trying to tell people was: Here’s the tone of the movie. My favorite trailers are the ones who set the world, the tone, the voice of the movie, without telling you too much about the story. It’s totally different from what the previous movies had done, and it’s much more akin to what the Ultimate Fantastic Four series did." As for how Kinberg feels now that people have finally seen something from the movie, he adds: "We really wanted to let people know: This is a Fantastic Four movie that takes character seriously, that has hard-tech science-fiction, and it has an intensity that you may not expect from this franchise."
