More Actors In Contention For THE FANTASTIC FOUR; Will Doctor Doom Be A Woman?

After a promising update from director Josh Trank yesterday, a new list of actors testing for roles in The Fantastic Four have been revealed; including our first candidate for The Thing! The hunt is also on for a big name star to play Doctor Doom, although he may be a she in the reboot...

Less than 24 hours after Josh Trank debunked those plot rumours for The Fantastic Four, The Hollywood Reporter has discovered which actors have been testing for a role in the reboot these past couple of days. According to multiple insiders, Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Emmy Rossum (Shameless) have tested for the role of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, while Miles Teller (Whiplash) tried out for Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. English actor Christian Cook (Romeo and Juliet ), meanwhile, is said to have tested for Ben Grimm, a.k.a. The Thing! Michael B. Jordan is the only actor locked in right now, while earlier reports naming Saoirse Ronan, Elizabeth Olsen and Kit Harington have all come to nothing for various reasons. Most interesting is the fact that the site states: "Dr. Doom is said to be the villain of the reboot. The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision is hearing that the studio is likely to go for a big name and isn’t ruling out switching genders for the role." Casting is ongoing, so this could all change in the coming days and weeks...

They should just re-release Roger Corman's Fantastic Four film with a big advertising budget, and write this trash off as a mistake that was avoided...

Maybe Marvel and Disney made the wrong move with Fox. I could, honestly, sit through another mediocre "Daredevil" film versus another disastrously horrendous "Fantastic Four" movie. Good Lord, Fox, do you like screwing up constantly? I'm sorry I'm not excited for a younger FF team nor see the reason why of race-changing and gender-changing either. Not saying Michael B. Jordan won't do a hell of a job but I just don't see the necessity of it. The team has worked for years as is; don't fix what doesn't need fixing.

In the context of Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin or Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury it works; Idris Elba is okay as Heimdall but I just don't see the need for Johnny Storm to be black. In reality, I'd be fine with the FF team to be an all black cast. I'm not against interracial marriages, hookups, or families, but I would actually be more fine with an all black cast versus 'Hey, we're being diverse for the sake of diversity and to get different demographics to see the film.' It's a frigging superhero film... everyone will go see it regardless of race, sex, religion, creed, or sexual orientation.

But yes as someone else pointed out, with a mere month away from filming--- either push back the release date, quickly get a cast assembled soon, or scrap the project indefinitely and start over or just let Marvel make it right with Patrick Wilson or Billy Crudup, Charlieze Theron or Diane Kruger, and two big-names for Human Torch and The Thing. :)
