PROS & CONS: A REVIEW OF FANT4STIC

I review Josh Trank's Fant4stic. (WARNING: THIS LIST WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. BUT LET'S BE HONEST, NONE OF YOU CARE)

This movie has been controversial from the very beginning. From the choice of director, to the casting, to the on-set stories, to...
Oh boy.

When I saw this movie, I felt like it was Marvel's Superman Returns. By that I mean there were tons and tons of drama, and only ONE action scene. With that said, I didn't think Superman Returns was that bad...
SHUT UP!
So, if I liked the movie that I'm saying Fant4stic is very similar to, then what did I think of Fant4stic?
PROS:
1. THE ACTING (FOR THE MOST PART)
Let's get one thing clear, I'm not talking about the chemistry between the actors. I'm talking about the acting itself. Reg E Carthey did a great job as Dr. Storm. Tim Blake Nelson did a better job in this than he did in The Incredible Hulk. Micheal B. Jordan & Kate Mara were decent as the Storm siblings. However, there are two very big MVPs in this movie. The first is Miles Teller, who is incredibly charasmatic as Reed Richards. And then there's the person who is so good that he himself is a pro...
2. JAMIE BELL AS THE THING
While I was disappointed that we only got three minutes of human Ben Grimm, I'd say that Jamie Bell was the best part of the movie. Most of the scenes with him are just heartbreaking to watch (you'll see why I say "most" in the Cons section), espicially the conversation between him & Reed. I think he did just as good a job as Michael Chiklis.  If this franchise gets rebooted for the 50th damn time, I would love to see Bell come back. But if he does, can you make Thing look a bit more like Bell.
3. THE EFFECTS (EXCEPT FOR GREEN LAVA)
A lot of people hate the effects. I don't. I think the look of Planet Zero is (for lack of a better term) fantastic. While I hate Doom's design, theeffects on that were solid. The best effect is The Thing. Not only is Jamie Bell great with MoCap, but he looks really detailed. Although, the green lave isn't just fake, it's awful to look at. What's worse is that they put it on Doom.
4. THE (ONE) ACTION SCENE
I said that this is like Superman Returns because there's lots of drama, but only one action scene (the plane scene). Like Superman Returns, the one action scene is great. We finally get to see Sue & Johnny use their powers outside of testing, we get to hear The Thing's catchphrase, the effects get better, and we finally see DOOM (or cliche villain #626).
5. NO SEQUEL BEGGING
A few years ago, Tim Blak Nelson was in an underrated little gem called The Incredible Hulk. However, one big problem with that movie is that he was only in it to set up a sequel that never happend as he played a pre-Leader Samuel Sterns. It looked like they would do the same with this film as he plays a pre-Moleman Dr. Harvey. However, at the end of the movie, his head blows up. Oh yeah, and Doom (who was barley in the movie) could  have (unfortunatley) been saved for bigger things, but they killed him off too. I'm glad they didn't do setup like other recent CBMs, even if they already confirmed Fant2stic (which isn't happening).

CONS:
1. CHEMISTRY BETWEEN TEAMMATES, WHAT'S THAT?
In the previous FOX F4 movies, the chemistry was 50% there. I say 50% because half of the team (Reed & Sue) were played by awful actors. The interactions between Johnny & Ben, however, were one of the few bright spots of those films. In this, however, the only time there was any chemistry was the jet scene with Reed & Ben. Other than that, the chemistry dosen't exsist. Which is a shame, because they got great actors to play the 4. It doesn't help that the only time all of them are on screen together is the end. Speaking of which...
2. THE ENDING DIALOGUE
It's hammy. It's cheesy. It's corny. It's a ham & cheese sandwich with a side of corn. The scene where they're looking at their new lab like kids on Christmas is stupid enough. But when they talk about finding a names. It's just awful. Coming up with the dumbest names (Human Torch & the Torchettes, Big Brain & His Neurons, Big Brain & HER Neurons, & Two guys, a girl, & a thing). And then Ben goes "This is FANTASTIC". Causing Reed to say "I have me an idear for a te-am name". Trust me, i'm saying this better than the movie does.
3. DOOM
I will give FOX one last chance with F4. But that chane will be taken away if they announce that if they reboot this (again) that Doom will be the villain. What is so hard about Doom for FOX to get right on the big screen. (Don't say he wouldn't have done better in the MCU.) Where to begin? First, he looks stupid. Second, the excuse for him looking stupid is stupid. Third, he's an idiot (as you'll se in the following Con.) Fourth, his motive are beyond cliche. Fifth, they wasted a great actor (which is why I put "For the most part" in the first Pro.) Sixth, he steals his big villain lines from GHOSTBUSTERS, WHICH IS A COMEDY. Finally, if the planet is what kept him strong, WHY IS HE LIMPING? I'm glad they killed off Doom. He didn't deserve to live.
4. IT ALL HAPPENS BECAUSE THEY'RE DRUNK
This proves my point that Doom is an idiot. He's obviously planning to go on this journey without permission. But he decides to get him and the other guys drunk. Then, he goes on a stupid drunken rant about how they should be doing it because it's THEIR dream. That causes Reed to call Ben to come with them. So Ben get's turned into a rock monster and you suit melts into your skin because of you, Victor. Good Job! You could have cut all this out and have them just go and bring Ben without the the drunk phone call. Oh yeah, and BRING SUE! Despite that, all this is nothing compared to the worst part of the movie...
5. "HELP ME, REED!"
I'm sorry, I thought I was watching The Fantastic Four, not a HORROR MOVIE! This was the one scene the one scene with The Thing that I didn't find sad. I was supposed to, but I was too upset over what was happening. This was supposed to be a big emotional moment, but it was ruined. The previous scene where they get back and Johnny & Reed are being tested was dark enough. But this scene is just unpleasant. From Ben's terrified scream, to Reed freaking out about it, to Reed promising Ben that he'll fix everything only for him to go:

VERDICT:
While there were some stuff I liked about it (espicially Jamie Bell), I can't say it's a good movie. However, even if I don't think it's good, I don't hate it like the rest of you. I hope you respect my opinion. Thank you.

Great and hilarious article man! I just feel you didnt include the most important con, the inconsistency. As someone (i cant remember who) said, this movie just lacks a second act. It is starting and suddenly it finishes. There was no consistent tone or story arc.
