RUMOR: FAN4STIC Director Josh Trank Leaked Film Online

A source of mine close to production of Fan4stic has revealed to me that the director of the film leaked the film to popular file-sharing websites.

Many comic book movie fans were dissapointed this past summer with the release of Fox's adaption of the Fantastic Four. The film was a severe dissapointment for both fans and the studio itself.; and while blame has been thrown at both director Josh Trank and studio, 20th Century Fox, it seems like there's now even more fuel to be added to the flames.

A source of mine close to the production of the film has shared with me that upon release of the film, Trank was not happy with the final cut of the film. While my source indicates that the fault was generally seen as a lack of discipline and skill from Trank, he blamed the studio for massive re-writes and cutting out many action set pieces. Apparently Trank wanted to see how the film would be perceived upon release, and waited for the films release despite knowing that the film wasn't as well polished as it could have been.

When the film released, it obviously did not do well. Critically and commercially the film was a bomb, it's during this time that my source told me, in an effort to spite 20th Century Fox, Trank leaked copies of the film on to popular file sharing sites found all over the web.

The exact reasons why remain unseen, but it seems like Trank wanted to take whatever potential revenue may still be left by releasing the film online. My source indicates that Trank was highly erratic during filming, and that an act like this didn't surprise him.

From the sounds of it, for most of the shoot and leading to release, Trank and the reps from 20th Century Fox butted heads over many things, with the cast and crew left wondering what was truly happening with the film. Still, for all the stories of possible property destruction, drug abuse, and now purposeful leaking of the film. Something tells me the movie about the making of this film would be a lot more interesting than the film itself.
