With just two weeks to go, Dharma Productions and 20th Century Studios have released new featurettes for Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva, their upcoming fantasy adventure film that will launch the Astraverse, Bollywood's first original cinematic universe that will draw inspiration from deeply rooted concepts and epic tales from Hindu mythology.

The film is expected to be the first entry in an epic trilogy, telling the tale of the "Astras" (weapons) and the "Brahmastra" (the lord of all weapons), and how the reawakening of these ancient weapons will turn young Shiva's (Kapoor) life on its head. Shiva will be forced to master his own superpower - the ability to manipulate fire - and make a last-ditch effort to save the world from the greatest evil it's ever faced.

Ayan Mukerji (Wake Up SidYeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) helmed the feature, which is said to be one of the most expensive Bollywood films ever produced. Ranbir Kapoor (SanjuAe Dil Hai Mushkil) and Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi; Dear Zindagi), who recently tied the knot in real-life and are now expecting their first child, star in the lead roles as Shiva and Isha, respectively.

Joining Kapoor and Bhatt are the legendary Amitabh Bachchan (Mohabbatein; Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham) as Guru, Mouni Roy (Gold; K.G.F: Chapter 1) as Junoon, Nagarjuna Akkineni (BangarrajuWild Dog) as Anish, Dimple Kapadia (TenetDabangg 3), Divyendu Sharma (Mere Desh Ki DhartiToilet: Ek Prem Katha), Dhruv Sehgal (Little ThingsModern Love: Mumbai), and Saurav Gurjar (MahabharatWWE NXT).

Global megastar Shah Rukh Khan (Veer-ZaaraDilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) is also set to make a cameo appearance in the film's opening sequence as a scientist named Mohan, who wields the Vānarāstra.

Ok you see? This is more of what I'm talking about. You wanna talk about movies from India then fine. Just as long as you keep it in line with what people on a comic book movie site would find interesting. More of this, less of the bollywood forest gump.

@Origame - Bollywood Forest Gump? That’s a thing?

@Drace24 - Asia already does most of the VFX shots for all big movies, not surprised their films are starting to look like hollywood.

Sitting through all those end credits, its mostly asian names for VFX section lol. America is too cheap, they outsource mostly everything overseas and aren't paying people enough anymore to stay in the top tier.

Looks really great, now if only it was dubbed in English.

@MuadDib - Or you can read the subtitles.

@Razorface1 - I’ll either wait for the English dub or won’t watch it. I don’t mind subtitles sometimes, but this isn’t so alluring that I’d want to read subtitles.

The stunning visuals the more I want to focus those and not get distracted trying to keep up with what ppl are saying.

@MuadDib - same here, I’d like to say it’s interesting enough for me to read the subtitles but I know I’ll lose interest unfortunately if I’m reading the movie & watching it. I have no problem reading books but have trouble reading subtitles while watching a movie.

@Razorface1 - But I am a baby, I’m a baby right now! Summer!

@Tpo81 - Oh boy, another baby.. lmao

I feel ya, when there’s really nice scenes with great visuals, the last thing I want to do is focus on the bottom of the screen just to keep up with what’s going on.

Hey to each their own, opinions are like ash-holes, everyone’s got one. Razorface comes across as a big one. Opinionated that is.. wah.. wah.. my opinion is the only one that matters..

Are we going to get large dance numbers and out of this world CGI fight scenes? Because I'm here for it

@Oberlin4Prez - Dunno, don't knock offs tend to be worst than the original? So if this is a knock off of Eternals a subpar film....

FX ARE EXCELLENT...but the thing that kills me about Bollywood film are the constant dancing and musical numbers. It just takes me out of the film.
TheOtherOn
TheOtherOn - 8/26/2022, 4:00 PM
@blitzkreg - They have over one billion people, of course they are gonna have these things in their movies. Just like Muricans pander about how great they are, always portraying themselves the heroes, pushing down their political agendas in the whole world's throats etc.. etc..
mastakilla39
mastakilla39 - 8/26/2022, 4:32 PM
@blitzkreg - I'm the opposite, America doesn't have enough dance off and musicals. Thats why celebrities have to go to lip sync battle or carpool karoke and make a fool of themselves when they can do it on film instead.

Have you seen RRR, awesome film but a 3 hr runtime....
