Variety have revealed that the guy behind Catch Me If You Can will be penning the script for the upcoming fifth chapter in the Captain Jack Sparrow movie franchise. Hit the jump for more.

Ready? Alright then, here it is. If you are a fan of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, then you'll be really excited with this news (if you're a REAL fan then you know the franchise died in the third movie). Variety is reporting that the scribe behind Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal (two Steven Spielberg movies), Jeff Nathanson, will be penning the script for the fifth movie in the Disney's Pirates Of The Caribean franchise, which has Johnny Depp set to return to the leading role of Captain Jack Sparrow and Jerry Bruckheimer as the producer. So far, no director is attached to the project, also there's no word if any of the other cast members like Geoffrey Rush, Penélope Cruz or Keira Knightley will be returning and no plot details are known either. So stay tuned on CBM for more on Pirates Of The Caribean 5.

Yes. Please make a fifth movie good. That last one was so unbearably awful (honestly, Penelope Cruz delivered the only dynamic performance). But I have to agree with the author of this article, At World's End was numbingly bland.

I regret every second I spent watching On Stranger Tides. I'm not even kidding. I saw it on HBO. So glad I didn't see it in theaters.

THey just need to make one more like the first, like less fantasy stuff.

The characters though are always fun to see, mainly barbosa and jack, its a shame the films in their entirety have't been going as good

The only watchable part of these films is Johnny Depp. Everything else is just scenery to support his character. If you're tired of the Captain Jack schtick, you'll probably be bored by a fifth Pirates film. I still like Captain Jack though, and would happily see another movie with him in it.

I loved the first one, but was a little disappointed with the 2nd, and don't remember anything about the 3rd but I heard it was pretty bad. I liked Stranger Tides when I saw it, but I don't really remember anything about that one either. Hopefully this one is a little more memorable.

I also would love to see Jason Isaacs as a villain in a pirates movie. I think he would be a far more intimidating character than Ian McShane was. Blackbeard was a disappointment to me. For somebody who was reputed to be the most feared pirate of all, I found Barbossa, Davy Jones, and even Jack Sparrow's dad more threatening.

The fourth one was all over the place, Jack was a cartoon of himself, and it was still somehow extremely forgettable for the most part, with no real interest in any of the supporting characters being developed. A fifth movie isn't going to dig them out of the hole they created.

They DID say "On Stranger Tides" was gonna be the beginning of a new trilogy at some point so I'm not surprised. I'm still hoping they Surprise me though. The last one was alright but it had so many parallels with the first one.

this is yet another movie that joins the very much used category of meh, this week, along with Jurassic Park 4

Why oh why, (Ok I know they want to make money) do we need another one from both Pirates and Jurassic Park. It would want to be one hell of a plot in both of them
