HitFix have exclusively revealed that Warner Bros. are, "in the process of finalizing the deals for David Yates and Steve Kloves to re-team for a multi-movie version of Stephen King's epic "The Stand." With the recent critical acclaim for the final Harry Potter movie (including some talk about a "Best Picture" Oscar nomination) it's doesn't exactly come as a surprise that WB would want to get the duo back together again.

A novel by Stephen King, recently adapted into numerous comic book series', it takes place in a post apocalyptic world which sees 99.4% of the world's human population wiped out following the spread of a human-made biological weapon. The book deals with this and the aftermath of these events.

If Marvel was smart then they would hire David Yates to handle the Doctor Strange movie.

I hope they do like Harry Potter and break it into more than one movie. I just don't see them being able to cram it all into 2, or even 2.5 hours.

KooKevin3@ As soon as I heard they were doing a Doctor Strange movie David Yates was the first person I thought of. The man knows how to handle movies that are based off of magical material. He would be the perfect fit.

This has to span over at least three features, got to be my favourite of King's. Cant wait to see who they cast as Randall Flagg.

@wolverinesfury, This is very different from The Book of Eli.

So they're remaking the TV mini-series that sucked. Looks like there's going to be another bad King adaption.

Wow...that's interesting news. I loved the book, but hated the TV adaptation. I would be very interested to see how these guys handled it.
@comicfan6 I second that

I was really hoping that Yates would go on to direct Fables. I love the characters and storyland of Fables, and it is something that hasn't been done before. I've already seen Lt. Dan and Parker Lewis in The Stand!

Interesting that WB seems to like this kind of material since they made
"I'am Legend" and are doing the upcoming "Contagion" I'm sure they picked Yates since he has shown the ability to make a series of big budget movie adaptations of popular novels that are regarded as pretty faithful to the source material.

The Tv Series Didn't suck it was pretty close considering some other movies made from books,actually I would see it but I'm tired on remakes, and reboots,just because The Batman movies have been better,doesn't mean everybody can do it. Fright Night comes out next week,footloose down the road which sucked to begin with. This one looks worse. I would like to see these guys do Dr. Strange that would be cool.What else Jaws, Godfather,Wizard of Oz how about Braveheart or Taxi Driver.
