Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a busy man these days, but he still finds time to keeps his fans updated on all of his projects via his social media channels. This weekend, the Hollywood star shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of
Jumanji 3 (the sequel to
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), in which he confirmed that the "Atlanta portion" of the film's production has wrapped.
Unfortunately, as it's primarily a sound stage with a blue screen, the photo offers little in the way of details for the new movie; but, we do get to see Johnson's Dr. Smolder Bravestone looking awesome as always. Perhaps more importantly, Johnson teased that they will now be heading to new locations to continue filming, including "the hot jungles, icy snow-capped mountains, and blistering desert dunes."
While
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was, as the title suggests, set primarily in the jungle, Johnson's post suggests the currently unnamed sequel will take us to more exotic locations on what promises to be another exciting and fun adventure.
"Still much work to be done, but we’re making something pretty cool & fun for our audiences around the world this Christmas," Johnson concluded.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, and Rhys Darby will all reprise their respective roles from the previous installment. They will be joined by an impressive set of newcomers including Awkwafina (
Ocean's 8), Danny DeVito (
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Danny Glover (
Sorry to Bother You), and Dania Ramirez (
Tell Me A Story).
Jumanji 3 is set to open on December 13, 2019, going head-on with Disney and Lucasfilm's
Star Wars: Episode IX, which opens the following week.
