We know MGM/Paramount are working on a "grounded" take on Hercules under Brett Ratner and starring The Rock, but now there's some movement on Renny Harlin's version, which at least sounds like it will be faithful to the original mythology. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kellen Lutz (Twilight, Immortals) has signed on to play the character in Millenium's Hercules 3D. The $70 million epic is aiming to shoot in May in Bulgaria. "It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history — and Kellan has exactly that, personality," Harlin tells THR. "He's not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and heart." Specific plot details are unknown but apparently at its center will be "a love story between the son of Zeus and the mortal princess of Crete, who was promised to his older brother despite her love for Hercules."

The name of the Hellene demigod is Heracles. Hercules is his Roman equivalent. I don't know why Hollywood can't get the difference!

I hate when studios do this. Race eachother to put out the same movie at the same time. It always happens: mirror mirror vs Snow White & huntsman, the prestige vs the illusionist, Paul blart mall cop vs that other mall cop movie...

This is Mirror Mirror vs Snow White and the Huntsman all over again one is more kid friendly and the other is geared to more of an older audience it's to early to tell we have to wait for set pics of them in costume and get better plot details to judge

Ive never seen this guys acting ability and just becasue he was in garbage like Twilight, doesnt mean he wont be great.
BUT... (and for the record I support gay rights)... but this guy is the REASON so many movie studios hire Australians or some other foreigner.
every young actor from the US these days just screams gay and effeminate, even if they arent.
its almost as if the only masculine men in the US arent interested in acting and just go to sports and MMA.
Hercules is a Masculine, intimidating guy.
This guy couldnt intimidate me to save his life

Kellan has one of the best bodies in Hollywood.
He's a pretty good actor, sure he's not Oscar worthy, but is Joe Manganiello? is The Rock? probably not.

I liked him in what I've seen anyway, he has charm, charisma and a body to match Hercules.
