This May, director Guy Ritchie is breathing new life into the ancient tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable with his latest film, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

The film will add a new twist to the classic tale of Arthur Pendragon, who after pulling the sword from the stone, will attempt to reclaim the crown, his birthright, from his evil uncle Vortigern. Charlie Hunnam will star in the title role while 2x Academy Award-nominee Jude Law will play the villain. Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, and Eric Bana will also feature.

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.

When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

Not too excited about this one anymore. Wanted an epic Gladiator/LOTR feel to it...this feels...meh.

I am such a huge fan of the Arthurian legends, so I wish I could be excited for this movie but I just can't.

It's like DC tried making a King Arthur movie. Everything's bleak, washed-out and, and depressing looking, and can't go 10 seconds w/out a attempt at dry humor.

Idk, movie's trying way too hard...

@knocturnalzen10 - and the best part about it, is that it's the closest to what the real life King Arthur, if the legends were based on a real person, would have been - a Romano-British commander who's defending his stronghold from the invading Saxons and Celts, as the Roman Empire began to receed.

Nothing will probably ever top Excalibur or for that matter NBC's Merlin, but I can support this new vision.
