Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizard—and just maybe into a better man as well.

Oz: The Great And Powerful stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weiz and Michelle Williams. The film is set to hit theaters March 8th, 2013.

Rachel Weisz plays the Wicked Witch in this movie. The power of Google, people.

This movie looks amazing, but the probably is they've gave away the twist.

Mila Kunis helps Oz throughout the movie, and is seen as his romantic interest and sidekick, in the trailers. The trailers also depict Rachel Weisz's character Evanora as the primary villian. Which is she kinda of is. Evanora is the Wicked Witch of the East, but Mila Kunis's casting revealed she will be playing Theodora, The Wicked Witch of the West. Throughout the trailers you are lead to believe that the Wicked witch is Racheal Weisz, but my theory is that while she will be devious and bad. The true villian is Mila Kunis.

This poster is of Mila Kunis, I think that's pretty obvious even without knowing the plot.

PS. bets on it that Racheal Weisz's character will be killed by a falling house....hint hint.

This is not only the Wizard of Oz's origin but the witches. What made the Wicked Witch of the West so evil? Well hell hath no fury like a woman scorn.

ACira -

The power of Google is strong but knowing which witch is which is even more powerful. Yes, Rachel Weisz plays a wicked witch but not the one shown here. The Wicked Witch of the West, Theodora, is played by Mila Kunis. She's the green one.

Looks like it could be Rachel Weisz or Mila Kunis, which is sorta the point. It's meant to be a surprise. Might be neither of them.

You're supposed to think it's Rachel, but it's Mila. That's the big surprise. SURPRISE!

@WildManOfBorneo wait. You mean to tell me that Google tricked me?

It's a very cleverly made poster, in that the Witch resembles both Rachel and Mila (as evidenced by the massive confusion in this thread) which seems to be a deliberate deception.

Also, apparently this film isn't an actual prequel to The Wizard of Oz that starred Judy Garland, as WB owns the rights to that movie and this one is being made by Disney. This is just a new pseudo-adaptation since the books are now in the public domain, meaning anyone can use them now.

the whole point because they know they've gave away the twist, is to make the character look both like Weisz and Kunis. But I assure you, even throughout the publictiy/trailers you will be lead to believe its Weisz. Its Mila thats the wicked witch.

Are people still clueless that Rachel Weisz is not the Wicked Witch we know from the original, shes plays Evanora the Wicked Witch of the East, the one that gets smashed by the house.

Mila Kunis is playing Theodora the Wicked Witch of the West and im sure we will see her transformation towards the end of the film.

That is definitely Mila Kunis. Look at GUNSMITH's picture, they are trying to make it seem like Rachel Weisz's character becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.

Look at the color scheme of her outfit, it's black and green. They are trying too hard to make it obvious.

Mila Kunis is wearing a hat(the Wicked Witch of the West likes to wear a hat) and is on the left side of the picture. Left as in west.

@IM53 Same here. As soon as I saw her eyes, I knew. Her witch hat should've been pulled down more in the poster.

Kinda annoying how they gave away this supposedly big twist already from the trailers...literally just by having a VERY distinct evil laugh (it's obviously Mila) play when the witch's hand comes from the shadows..

people people there are four witches arent there....north, east, south and west. Mila is the red witch she wears the ruby slippers and rachel is the green and black witch so it makes sense that she's that witch in the poster.
