Apparently Rufus Sewell is in final talks to join Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost. No details are yet known on the role he would play.

Sewell has previously worked with Proyas on the director's underrated sci-fi flick Dark City

Update: This was originally posted as an exclusive scoop by Variety but they have since deleted their article. So while we await some type of confirmation don't take this as gospel. Pun intended.

@Lert

They casted the angel of death where there is no such character in the poem. So I imagine they're taking some liberties

He's a great actor so it's a very good choice IMO. I just hope they don't change to much from the book. It has a chance to be epic, but if Hollywood decides to do there "thing" it'll be another version of the remake of Clash of the Titans.

Awesome!:) He would be great fallen angel or God.

I heard that Djimon Hounsou is playing the Angel of Death.
And Benjamin Walker is playing Michael.

I hope they cast Alexander Skarsgård or Chris Hemsworth as Gabriel.

He play doom?? A propper doom would have a nice deep Darth Vadery voice and an intimidating presence. Vader was directly inspired by Doom anyway. The Fantastic 4 movie Doom was LAME. Doom is NOT a metrosexual that shaves his eyebrows and mooohahahhas all over the place
