CLARY FRAY (Lily Collins) is an ordinary Brooklyn teenager until the night she meets the mysteriously tattooed JACE, who turns out to be a half-angel warrior known as a Shadowhunter. When Clary finds out her mother JOCELYN has been abducted, she desperately hopes Jace will be able to help. After a whirling golden portal transports her across time and space in a heartbeat, Clary realizes she too has the powers of the Shadowhunters. But can she harness them in time to save her mother?

Clary, Jace and their fellow Shadowhunters endure one breathtaking battle after another against vampire, warlocks and demons—only to discover Jocelyn hid a terrible secret from the fiercest warrior of all: VALENTINE. Cast out from the world of Shadowhunters, Valentine abducted Jocelyn believing she had a powerful tool known as the Mortal Cup. Using her newfound gifts, Clary finds the Cup, only to be brutally betrayed and forced to relinquish it.

Still reeling from this setback and racing to save Jocelyn before it’s too late, Clary finds herself caught in a battle between forces she barely understands. Based on the best-selling series by Cassandra Clare, MORTAL INSTRUMENTS is a magnificent urban fantasy rich in detail and suspense, about a girl’s journey to the darkest corners of the underworld to save those she loves.

Starring Lily Collins, Jaime Campbell Bower, Lena Headey, Jared Harris, Kevin Durand and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set to hit theatres on August 23, 2013.

looks like a TV show with a great budget. very poor directing so unless the source materials top notch i dont see this being very good. but still i'll watch, love urban fantasy.

I'm ashamed of myself. I "kinda" like it. At least it's looking ten times better than most of the werewolves/vampires flicks we are getting these days. Better than those Resident Evil, Underworld sequels they are still making, for sure.
Plus they got Lena Headey and Robert Sheehan in it. The main guy seems like to have a lot of more charisma than Edward.

Anyway I'm not bashing the movie ( at least not right now :)

Better than Underworld? I take Underworld with its badass looking Werewolves and vicious vampires over this with its Zoo animals and Ken dolls.

@AlexDeLarge87

i just never dig the Underworld series. First one (for me) was kinda forgettable, didn't catch the second one, saw trailer for the fourth one. The fourth one seemed like they doing the same story all over again.

Never worked for me, just saying.

plus I'm just sick of all of these vampires, werewolves, zombies movies coming nowadays. This at least looked kinda different.
Was looking different, until the werewolves were shown, to be more precisely.

Hunger Games is a fantastic movie/book series about people struggling to survive. This movie looks really cool, I hope it doesn't flop the way Beautiful Creatures did. I don't think it will, and I hope it's successful b/c I love Lena Heady. She was the best Sarah Connor. It's a shame that The Host flopped, the book was amazing, I haven't gotten to see the movie yet.

jerryblake@ Underworld series never was good right about that. First and second were decent after that it kinda fell through. But to me it looked better than this. But each with their own.

I love Cassadra Claire, she's the biggest reason why i became a writer. If you want a book with clever characters and funny lines, she's your girl. And YES, i've known her work ages before even twilight. I read the Draco trilogy and it's Joss Whedon awesome. I just hope that they focus more on the plot rather than selling us on another teeny bopper flick.
