Who doesn’t love a good villain? No one cares about the princess unless she is being rescued by her prince from the clutches of the ‘bad guy’ and it’s definitely no fun watching our heroes unless they are a part of someone’s vicious and evil plot. The following is a list of some of the most conniving and manipulative villains to ever grace – and traumatize ― our childhood.

Mother Gothel from Tangled (2010)

She basically kidnapped a child, raised it as her own for her selfish desires of gaining ‘eternal beauty,’ and locks her up for eighteen years. Mother Gothel is also pretty much the queen of emotional blackmail which is sad because, let’s face it, Rapunzel’s not exactly the sharpest crayon in the box. Oh and let’s not forget that she tries to kill our hero as well.

Governor John Ratcliffe from Pocahontas (1995)

This guy is the epitome of racism, the perfect example to explain to a child what racism is all about. He is selfish to the highest degree, where he would do just about anything to attain his gold. His attempts include: trespassing and making his mark on a land that doesn’t belong to him, and waging a war that could only end in genocide over Virginia.
