From MovieWeb.com

"Actor Nicolas Cage appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night to promote his new film The Sorcerer's Apprentice, where he revealed that he will be returning for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

"There's going to be a new one," Cage told the host Craig Ferguson. "I just made the deal today."

Minutes later he also confirmed that Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor will be directing the film as well.

"They're the wonderful directors from Crank, Neveldine and Taylor," Cage said. "They're fantastic."

We reported last month that the directing duo were circling the film and now it seems their deals have been signed as well."

I sure hope the directors make this dark and
mystic instead of light and campy like the first
one!

I don't think you can blame Cage for the first one!
It was definitely the director and scriptwriter who
made that movie less than satisfying! But I thought
it had it's moments.

@DDD
Well it was directed and written by the same person...so maybe he should've just wrote the script, and maybe gotten a better director? But nope, they seen how big of a flop "Daredevil" was, they just had to bring him back, even though I like "Daredevil" and I think its ok, even though it was directed/written by the same person who did the first Ghost Rider movie.

But sure the 1st GR movie has it's moments. But I still think it was horrible.

Mark Steven Johnson wrote and directed the first one, same director than Daredevil, and I think the two are just Ok movies, like DDD wrote it has it's moments.
I hope Neveldine and Taylor make a gritty, edgy, dark, acid and violent movie, some like crank but less of a satire.ss of a parody.

This blows.
I can't take Nic serious anymore ever since I saw the Wicker Man... I don't think I'll ever see him as a serious actor ever again.

Just reboot it with Johnny Depp and get it right this time.

Dude, don't judge an actor on a few bad performances when they have such gems out there. Never count out the Cage! Check out Bad Lieutenant.

the directors of Crank?! uh-oh, why do I hear alarm bells ringing loudly? I loved Crank 1 & 2 but these guys cant make a serious movie! So will this movie be about Ghost Rider trying to stop his flaming head going out or he will die? lol If it wasnt for Nicholas Cage playing Ghost Rider, I would be expecting this is Crank 3, Jason Statham's head was on fire at the end of the last Crank movie

Im not expecting much from this sequel. But at least if this crap does bad, I dont see Sony continuing the movies so maybe Marvel will get the rights back and reboot it properly

[frick] no to johnny depp as ghostrider! Are you insane he is more of a shitty actor the cage is and plays the same damn character in every movie. Ill give Cage the chance to redeem himself. He did awesome in Kick Ass.

I didn't think GR1 was "Bad" it was more like "Lame" it got to a point where i was like god damn just do something everything was just so dull, I'm ok with Cage it was the boring story that killed it.

cage is a great actor given the right script but hes too old for this role now

I hope this one is a little more action-packed & a little darker, more like the comic. Let's not forget even though he is a good guy he is also a demon.

I'm fine with Cage playing it. The first one was bad because of the script and directing. They did a terrible job on Blackheart too.

@Ven0m I don't know what rectum you've had your head in when you've been watching Johnny Depp movies, but he definitely does not play the same character in every movie. Hatter and Sparrow were similar personality characters but thats all the rope I'll give you there. Watch Blow, Benny & Joon, Gilbert Grape, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Public Enemies, hell he did awesome in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He owned every one of those characters. The man is a cut above most actors.

Don't dig Cage as GR. Too old and over the top campy for the character. Lucas Black or Sam Worthington would be better IMO off the top of my head.

Seriously, this is one movie that seriously NEEDS a reboot. This studio needs to hop on the bandwagon and REBOOT this movie.

@Ven0m: Poolsonx is right, Depp is one of the most diverse actors ever, he constantly disappears into each role and never does the same thing twice. People suggest him for just about every rumored comic book film role, but Johnny Blaze is really a part that I can see him truly doing justice. And I can't believe that someone would find Nic Cage to be more convincing as a badass biker over someone like Depp...

Cage is alot like M. Night Shyamalan. Years ago, he'd give us masterpiece after masterpiece, but now he's washed up and his films/performances are shallow and lacking. I had to sit through the Sorcerer's Apprentice the other night with my nephew and I seriously found myself wishing the guy would just give up. It was Batman & Robin bad... Cage doesn't seem to be trying much anymore.

His performance in Kick-Ass was alright, although he was about as wrong for Big Daddy as he is for Ghost Rider.

Johnny Depp doesnt looks feel or act like a Badass Biker. I should rephrase. Johnny Depp of NOW has been acting in almost the same character in his last couple movies than he has before. I liked him as an actor until he went coocoo for coco puffs. Im still willing to give Cage a shot for redemption but im ready to write him off as well. However def no to Depp as Johnny.. It just isnt there.
Ven0m
Ven0m - 7/18/2010, 2:45 PM
@ Poolsonx Ill give you Gilbert Grape,Edward Scissor Hands, Blow and Public Enemies. Im gonna have to say no he sucked in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and wasnt impress with Sleepy Hollow. Also Ya he would be a cut above most actors if he would get away from Tim Burton.
