The casting news continues for the highly UN-anticipated Gi Joe sequel. This time it's (very brief) Wonder Woman herself Adrianne Palicki..

The Rock..aaand, a few other guys I can't remember. Anyway, quite a few people have been cast in this upcoming sequel to the wretched Gi Joe: Rise Of Cobra. And now we can add the star of ABC's short lived Wonder Woman tv show, Adrianne Palicki.



This just in from Deadline..

Friday Nights Lights series star Adrianne Palicki will play the female lead in the Paramount sequel to G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes. She'll play Lady Jaye and joins a cast that includes Channing Tatum, as well as Dwayne Johnson, who signed on to play the role of Roadblock in the Jon M. Chu-directed film. Ray Park is expected to reprise his Snake Eyes character, Byung Hun-lee is expected to bring back Storm Shadow, and RZA just joined the film.


Interestingly, Deadline also mention that Bruce Willis might be a "top choice" to play original G.I. Joe, Joe Colton. Anyway, what do you guys make of this casting? Despite Wonder Woman being canceled, Palicki isn't a bad actress. Can the likes of her and The Rock drum up any excitement for this sequel?

I think I'm on the same page as you, StrangerX. Bruce Willis in the film alongside Dennis Quaid (if he comes back) would be great to see. The Rock and now Adrianna Palicki? This sparks my interest more than the RZA guy I know nothing about.

Not sure if you're serious about the Sgt Slaughter cameo, but I am. If you think he's to old and fat then remember what they are doing to Chris Evans as Steve Rogers prior to the serum and what they did for Patrick Stewart in the Wolverine movie. It should be a given that the only real life GI Joe, aside from "Refridgerator" Perry, is in this sequel. DO IT!!!

ok, so its July 2011 and they're aiming for a summer 2012 release and they havent even started filming yet. um... why do i have a bad feeling for this movie? the filming is gonna be rushed, as will the effects... i fear for this film

Correction, Miller would have been perfect if they had written her role with an accent and as a bad guy without the nonsense.

There was a Brosnan Bond movie, maybe Golden Eye, that had this tall evil chick that would have been perfect.

Palicki just didn't fit the Wonder Woman role, especially since she doesn't have any hips or ass. I think she'll do ok in this role as long as she wears the uniform from the cartoon that showed off the ta-tas :)

They'll have to get rid of Tatum in order for me to get excited about this movie though.

@dudemanjac - The character was Xenia Onatop played by Famke Janssen from the X-Men movies.

Palicki isnt bad choice as Lady Jaye tho i rather see Evangeline Lilly.

Bruce Willis is probably going to show up only in cameo or something if he excepts the role.

Tatum is returning?! I thought he wasnt coming back!
Duke is the only one i would like to see recasted.
Paul Walker would be cooler choice.

Wildaniel@ I hope that too and yeah Baroness should definitely stay as one of the villains.

Hope they make the movie more realistic this time. Battle: Los Angeles and Transformers type of style would be cool!

Anyway, Adrianne as Lady Jaye? Whoa. That almost makes up for having Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock. Almost. Bruce Willis is a wild card. I figured they might have him replace Dennis Quaid for Hawk but I think not and he's too old to play Flint. Maybe for General Flagg or something?
