GREEN ARROW TV Series On The Way At The CW!

GREEN ARROW TV Series On The Way At The CW!

Yes, ol Ollie Queen is finally getting his own series, but by the sounds of things this may not be a Smallville spin-off..

EW report that the CW are getting to work on a pilot for an hour long Green Arrow Tv series. Now as I'm sure most of you are aware, Justin Hartley played the character for a few years in Smallville, also on the CW. So he will be a part of the new show right? Nope..

Justin Hartley is not involved in the new project, however. Here’s who is on board developing the show: Executive producers/writers are Greg Berlanti (Brothers & Sisters) and Marc Guggenheim (FlashForward), who also both worked on last year’s Green Lantern, along with Andrew Kreisberg (Vampire Diaries, Fringe). Berlanti Productions is producing in association with Warner Bros. Television.

It is still possible that the show will be a part of Smallville's canon but with a different actor in the role, but with a completely new creative team behind the show it's extremely unlikely. We do have some additional info from the ever reliable Deadline..

I hear that David Nutter is interested in directing the project, which takes the comic book character, created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, and sets him in a new world with an original story that is not based on the comics.

Ah, that old chestnut. I'm sure Green Arrow fans will be just delighted to hear that! Updates as and when we have em, but for now, who would you guys like to see in the role?

thank god its not a smallville spin off, What an insulting tv series. I never understood why people would who are big dc fans liked that series, i can understand why other people would like it, and it would have been good as a stand alone series with its own characters but i just couldn't watch it. I really want a tv series that follows a super hero from a really good book and they stick to the story and don't completely change the story and all the characters.

Hmm interesting... I'll wait until I see something more concrete to decide.

Speaking of Green Arrow, did that Supermax film get scrapped?? That was a great idea when it first came out.

I never liked Justin Hartley as Green Arrow. I can only hope for the best the character is so good and deserves better. Though the name Alan Kriesberg might make some people nervous since his Green Arrow run is what helped derailed the character in many people's opinions.

Ummm, I guess I have enjoyed the character as a part of a team comic on occasion, and he was cool in the JLU cartoon (everyone was cool in that) but yeah, I'm not sure even Green Arrow fans really like Green Arrow.

Heck yeah!!!!! Can't wait to see the pilot!!!! Would love it if Alaina Huffman could come back as Black Canary in the series (or at least Black Canary in general). :D

The Creative Department over at CW is truly the most innovative minds this country has to offer. Waiting for the Vampire Diaries/One Tree Hill/Smallville crossover event of the season

i dont care who is behind they show (CW). If it's got different writers and different actors it will be a different show than a smallville spin off. They may try to imitate it (which is what i expect since Smallville last 10 years). But it may be different enough to be good. I give it a shot besides IT'S COMIC BOOK related! you all know you'll check it out eventually, the fanboy in you will take charge!

Sure i'll give it a shot, we haven't even heard anything about it yet (other than its on the CW..ehhh) but anyway I was even willing to give that WW show a go. I watched the pilot, believe it or not it's not QUITE as bad as they made it out to be.

Got a feeling this is the next Mercy Bay. Can't wait to buy the failed pilot on iTunes! Starring Lou Diamond Phillips.

Who am I kidding...I've never bought anything from iTunes.

I'm definitely going to cross my fingers and hope it's good. Even if it's somehow associated with Smalls-ville, I'll watch it.

Justin Hartley as Green Arrow was awesome. He did a great job and Smallville could definitely use a spinoff finally.

I REALLY hope that they make it like the current DC New 52 version of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow: In his late 20's/early 30's. Kind of an absent CEO of Q-Core because he's more interested in his Green Arrow activities, while at the same time using top of the line tech and tech arrows and other weaponry. I especially like the fact that in the comics, they took from Smallville the combat sunglasses with night vision approach. I would also like to see his two assistants who aid in his weaponry and also maintain computer support while he's in the field
