Matt Nable Joins Season Three Of ARROW As 'Ra's Al Ghul'

Batman Begins star Liam Neeson recently expressed interest in reprising the role of Ra's Al Ghul in Arrow if asked, but now Stephen Amell has taken to Twitter to reveal that the leader of the League of Assassins will in fact be played by Matt Nable (Riddick) in season three...

Arrow has found its Ra's Al Ghul and it's Matt Nable, an actor best known for starring in short-lived TV shows like Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms and Underbelly as well as opposite Vin Diesel on the big screen in Riddick. His take on the iconic villain who was last played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins will first be seen in the fourth episode, "The Magician" (which also happens to be Arrow's fifthieth episode). This version of Ra's Al Ghul is described as, "The leader of the League of Assassins and father of Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law), Ra's is proud and unforgiving. A ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts and a shaper of history, Ra's carries the wisdom of the ages and protects some of its greatest secrets." Interestingly, it was star Stephen Amell who confirmed the casting, just hours after a brand new trailer was released. Haven't seen anything that he's been in so I don't have any overriding opinion on him. Still excited to see Ra's in Arrow.

This site is really pissing me the [frick] off! Not only was the first one to post the Arrow trailer, (embedded with a description, banner etc. not some lazy as shit with a link) now my casting news of this guy has also been deleted. An article I made 20 [frick]ing minutes ago.

But it wasn't up to par. @THEDRAKKNIGHT1939.

Hence, Josh made it better.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939: Firstly, your Arrow trailer was deleted because the original article had been updated. Secondly, your Ra's Al Ghul article was posted after both mine and a number of other basic users, but you might have missed this one because we have a new policy of setting the time on articles forward so they only appear on the site when they're completed. Your URL ended in 88, this one is 84.

Also. Its funny that they hire a white guy but no one says anything. But they cast a black guy as the human torch but everyone loses their minds.

I'm sure Liam Neeson was just itching for a bit part on a CW show.

The Ra's article is understandable but correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't the Arrow article already up before the Flash article got updated?

@JoshWilding
I'm glad to hear that. I once spent a night and a wee bit of a day on an editorial and when I posted it, it was four articles down the page and nobody read it. And it was really... really long. (Obviously I took breaks and slept, but yeah, spent [frick]ing yonks writing it and nobody saw it). So, if that new policy means I can leave an article for a week and it'll be posted at the top of the page, I'll be a happy little [frick]er.

Arrow, aka Batman-Lite Starring "A Green Arrow who thinks he's Batman co-starring whatever other DC Universe characters the producers can cram in." Pretty much sums it up.
