Sony have released the first official look at Seth Rogen and Jay Chou as Green Hornet and Kato...

We have seen variations of these settings before in leaked behind the scenes pics. These have been released on Yahoo in anticipation of the trailer which debuts tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live, so it should be online soon after, keep an eye on CBM for a looksee.

There doesn't seem to be too much excitement for this one. Partially because of Seth Rogen's involvement and also party because director Michel Gondry has said it will have comedic undertones. Personally I was never a big fan of the character anyway, but I am a big fan of Gondry's work so I am curious to see what he does with this.

Here is the official synopsis..

Britt Reid is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene — until his father mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato, they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves — protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.
Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case, they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky. But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.

The film will be released on January 14 2011 in 3D and IMAX 3D presentations.

Cool stuff. Seth Rogen's seems to have really slimmed down for this huh? Hey can't be any worse than Jonah Hex. lol

Nope, check the positions in the news tab Kev. If yours went up first it would be on main. Ror don't play that game!

I like Rogen actually, in comedies. But, he did show a flare for drama(kind of) in Funny People. I dunno, wait and see what the trailer looks like I guess.

I have never had an issue with the Kato casting in this film. Solid. Rogen still looks like the dorky guy he plays in every movie. Guess I will check it out when it is available as a rental.

I can't miraculously make mine appear beneath yours in the news tab Kev. The one posted first appears first. Ask any editor if you still doubt me, but either way, I don't particularly care!

I can see this working as a comedy, a brave but somewhat inept crimefighter always being saved by his loyal and much more talented sidekick. It could work . . . I bet this is their take on it, kinda like "without a clue," maybe?

Oh it should most definitely have comedic undertones. Taken dead straight it would have been terrible (unlike say Jonah Hex, where NOT taking it dead serious was a bad mistake). Still unsure about it, but it looks more promising than Jonah Hex or The Spirit did at the same stage of promotion.

and the only thing i remember from Green Hornet back in the day is that he always got his ass kicked by jobbers. it was Kato that was the real bad ass.

I like ROGAN! He is great in comedy movies..I really hope this turns out to be a good movie..I could care less if it's in 3D..I will see this in 2D, like it was ment to be.

I'll save my 3D experience for TRON: Legacy!!

This movie is gonna be a sleeper hit, the general public does'nt really know about it yet. But when they do..... All hail Rogen!!!
Stumblin
Stumblin - 6/21/2010, 12:42 PM
Yeah, 3D can suck my testicles. I'll see 3D when glasses aren't needed to see 3D otherwise it's a waste of extra money that could go towards beer.
Shaman

I hope it's hillarious. I mean, not 40 year old virgin funny but if this movie takes itself too seriously, it will blow.

Stumblin- I second that statement.

Hey Rogen dosen't look fat shows you he got serious for the role.

As for Kato using a gun why the hell not. Heck Batman & Capt. America used to use guns why shouldn't he.

World's changing brother everyone should own a gun now-a-days cause the only thing stopping a judo chop is a rocket to da face.

Besides females in anythong will always stop me in my tracks even the scary ones.
