In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, where a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan

Thanks to DCU Movie Page Twitter account, check out the shot of the Green Lantern's Blu-Ray back cover below:

If you notice the writing on the bottom part of the cover clearly states that the extended cut is 123 minutes long, which means it only adds 9 more minutes to the original cut which was 114 minutes long. And this also means that the extended cut itself which was originally announced to be an extra 15 minutes is now only 9. Are you disappointed? Sound off in the usual spot below!

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Saarsgard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, as well as the voice stars of Geoffrey Rush and Michael Clarke Duncan, Green Lantern is set to be released in Blu-Ray on October 14, later this year.

But still, fingers crossed the extended cut makes it worth watching more than the theatrical one. Download only for me!

9 minutes wont change a single film. This was a cosmically epic fail of a Superhero film. It did every single thing WRONG. It was trying to do the Iron Man route but Iron Man was enjoyable because of RDJ, as opposed to the typical Reynolds Man child character

Mine's still on pre-order. I'm glad there's some additional footage. Probably not enough to save it from being a bomb or curb the haters...it's still making my collection though.

it'll probably be 9 extra crappy minutes of blake lively, the most unattractive & wooden actress in a comic book movie this year.

Such a shame.. This was my most anticipated comicbookmovie in ten years. And the most disappointing one in ten years.. I really hope they can fix this mess. Green Lantern deserves more than this. Poor Hal.

Ryan Reynolds thought this movie would make him the new Christian Bale, bwahahaha! What a nut job.

i have it on good authority that the reason this film so so bad was that campbell handed a a pile of shit to WB. they spent all that additional budget on damage control. its not waht they had invisioned but thats hollywood!

I think it was better than Thor... but not nearly as good as Xmen:First Class or Captain America.

and it SHOULD have been the best. Im looking forward to the new footage

@ComicCritic87 how exactly was Reynolds Hal Jordan a "man child" through this whole movie? Why do I continue to read the threads on any GL post, it's filled with a bunch of hating jerk wads.

rubbish movie. I thought training montage kicked arse but I'm not buying GL blu ray becuase I liked 5 mins (was it even 5 mins, more like TWO minutes).

Move looked like it could be great, especially after the wondercon footage and the third trailer. But the terrible character development, Poop Cloud, and Hector Hammond made this movie horrible. OH and the fact that Hal beat Paralaxx practically by himself with 1 minute of training basically SUCKED!
DiLusso
DiLusso - 9/28/2011, 8:57 AM
i agree that hammond was a shit character in the movie. there was just no need for him or his father in the movie. i think they thought they had to have a human threat because the main villan was a fart cloud

This one was thrown together and very disjointed! I'll get it since I liked the visuals though, thats about it. Not a very good movie at all.

Kevberg- you are totally right. Of all the crappy movies, it is certainly not the crappiest.
But you're arguing a moot point. That piece of turd was not the biggest, or smelliest turd ever, but it's still a turd and I don't want to step in it again.

the movie was ok, it wasnt great by any means but then again it wasnt a total abomination.....

i mean it was the first time GL was made into a movie. you cant be expecting it to be perfect on the 1st try

Funny enough Ive just watched this again online just to see what it was like a second time, and nope its still poor,I think hektor was a poor crazy villian who screamed to much, hal became a pro far to quick with little training,I mean Id i became green lantern I would needs loads of trainin to fight! but yeah bring on a sequel still, just to see if the next director will do it right

Wouldn't it be funny if it was a typo or a mistake and it still is the 15 minutes but whatever. I'll still see it anyway.
DetBullock
DetBullock - 9/28/2011, 10:13 AM
The theatrical cut is 104 minutes long not 114: 100 minutes the film and 4 minutes the end titles.
It's just a package mistake, like my copy of Magnum Force that has "Japanese" listed instead of "Italian" in the manin feature languages.

Blake Lively could twist my nipples and nuts as hard as she wants, she'd still never get me to buy this for ONLY 5 minutes of extra footage. Make it 20 or more, or else i ain't getting it. It's that simple.
