Ryan Reynolds On The Challenges And Appeal Of Green Lantern!

Here is the recent video interview with the actor, courtesy of MTV Splash Page. Nothing too revealing here, but it's clear that Reynolds has a good grip on the do's and don'ts of successfully bringing a comic book character to life on the big screen.

"This one is particularly challenging because you want to get it right for so many people coming in with a built-in expectation. It's one thing to do it for a film when you're inventing a character that nobody's heard of. That's great. It's another when you're reimagining a character that people have known for decades. So that's not an insignificant challenge."

"You want to come in there and bring them something that is truly memorable and is exactly what they want blended with exactly what I want, because I am the guy that's got to do it. It's exciting. There are challenges."

"This is a guy that goes from a reckless, walking mishap to a guy with a higher calling, and he really rises to that occasion and experiences real humility and purpose for the first time in his life. That's a story I think a lot of people will gravitate toward."

With an all star cast which includes Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and Mark Strong as Sinestro, director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern is set to be released in 3D on June 17, later this year!

i think they are superimposing the same Ryan Reynolds head on all of the merchandise and they will use that very same head to superimpose on his body for the whole film.

I hope this movies good, so far WB have only really got the Batman films right. If this is as good as it looks, then WB won't have a problem when it comes to Man of Steel and the rest of DCs properties.

On the Marvel side of things, can you guys check my latest fan fic, X-Men Origins: Magneto, out? I'd really appreciate it!

So is it Krona RR means or could it be someone else? I can wait to get emotionally invested in Hal's life! That will make you hooked from the first scene. I am so superpsyched about this!
And anyone trying to put it down are simply dumb!

I, particularly, am not too excited for this movie. I mean, Ryan Reynolds will make an amazing Deadpool, but Green Lantern may be a bit of a stretch. If he had to be any Green Lantern, I would have cast him as Guy Gardener. Hell, he might have even made a decent Alan Scott, but Hal Jordan is a more serious character. I don't know. I see one too many comedic moments happening in this movie. I know its just a movie based on a comic book, but this is one of DC's greats we're talking about here. I mean, after the success that was The Dark Knight, one would think Warner Bros would make a conscious effort to put more thought into their movies.

But oh well. I'll go see it, and I'm not ruling out that I could be surprised. It doesn't look too bad. I hope they take this franchise in that sour turn and becomes Parallax.

@Ruiner- Yes. Hal Jordan is a more serious character. AFTER he's had the ring, fought several aliens, went evil, killed his friends, died, and came back. He is pretty much what Reynold's is playing in Secret Origin.

Hal does have a comical/witty side... even in more recent comics like Agent Orange. He makes a joke about Larfleeze's appearance.

oh ryan, you're such a tease. i wonder if there really is "another villain" or if he's talking about the bar fight... or combat training. in the comics he's had a few scuffles in the oa commissary, too.
