GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 Cast Release Joint Statement In Support Of Director James Gunn
The cast of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has finally responded to Disney's controversial firing of James Gunn, by releasing an open letter to express their support for their former director.
"We are Groot."
After nearly ten days of silence, the cast of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 have shared an open letter in response to Disney's controversial firing of their friend and former director James Gunn.
Gunn was unceremoniously terminated earlier this month after a number of his offensive tweets resurfaced. The contents of said tweets included tasteless jokes about pedophilia and rape, amongst other things. His abrupt firing has led to a fan uproar online as well as the formation of a petition, but neither has prompted a response from Disney or Marvel Studios.
The statement was signed by the entire principal cast of the first two hit films, including Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), and Michael Rooker (Yondu).
Pratt, in his Instagram post, also added that he hopes Gunn will ultimately be reinstated, "Although I don’t support James Gunn’s inappropriate jokes from years ago, he is a good man. I’d personally love to see him reinstated as director of Volume 3. If you please, read the following statement- signed by our entire cast."
