GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3: [SPOILER] Shares A First Look At Their Character

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters, but if you haven't managed to catch the movie yet, be warned that spoilers relating to the MCU debut of a certain character follow from this point on.

James Gunn's final GOTG movie is mostly standalone adventure, but it does set up future projects in a couple of ways, most notably by introducing a character who could become a powerful new hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.

When Nebula (Karen Gillan), Drax (Dave Bautista) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff) infiltrate the High Evolutionary's (Chukwudi Iwuji) ship, they discover that the megalomaniacal villain is keeping dozens of children in cages. Later, in the mid-credits scene (more on that here), we see that Rocket is leading a new team of Guardians, and one of the kids, Phyla (Kai Zen), is now a member.

Her full name isn't used, but this is surely a take on Phyla-Vell, daughter of Mar-Vell and sister of Genis-Vell. In the comics, the character has taken up the Captain Marvel mantle, and also gone by Quasar and Martyr.

Now, actress Kai Zen has taken to Instagram to share a first behind-the-scenes look at Phyla.

Have you been to see GOTG Vol. 3 yet? If so, what did you think? Drop us a comment down below.

"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova. Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives in theaters on May 5, 2023.

So…..can one of you guys give us a separate, dedicated article for the comment section users to discuss amongst ourselves the movie with a spoiler tag so that we can be free with the information while honoring protocol for those who haven’t yet seen??

@SauronthePower - If someone is commenting on an article with a spoiler tag it's probably safe to assume they've seen it... unless they just skipped over the content and straight to the comments I guess. But I think you'd be safe enough, tbh.

@MarkCassidy - thx

I was more trying to get a unified area to discuss/dialogue actual thoughts on the movie as opposed to responding across multiple threads

We could have had The High Evolutionary henchmen without him appearing. Him being there just served to take him off the field for later. The face reveal was also not what I was expecting exactly.

Come And Get Your Love was a pretty sweet callback (or it would have been, if they hadn't released the entire tracklist officially online), but the rest of the soundtrack as well as the film score left a lot to be desired...

...and I do mean A LOT. Huge step down from the previous two movies in that department that used to be a signature of this particular franchise.

@DrReedRichards -

I'm buying this soundtrack foshow. I think more of the soundtrack this time around was more modern and there wasn't really a song where I was like * how have I not heard this before!! It's so awesome!* Most of the songs they used I'm a big fan of already so the element of surprise was gone.

Respectfully disagree, P.

Except for HE's opera with Mo Ergaste Forn from the score and Warlock's intro with Crazy On You from the soundtrack, the rest left little to no impression on me.

I still stand strongly by the belief that Vol 2 had the best and most organic usage of its soundtrack in the story.

@DrReedRichards - Warlock name dropping both Adrian Belew AND King Crimson was a HUGE music geek shout out. Mad respect to whoever threw that nugget in the script

@DrReedRichards - I agree, I liked maybe 3 songs and the usage of them for the scenes. Rest I thought were incredibly uninspired. I think the best way to point out how I feel is the usage of Beastie Boy's No Sleep till Brooklyn before the final fight. What does Brooklyn have to do with a space fight, why not use their Intergalactic song instead, or even Sabotage since they were going to sabotage his plans (and his body lol)?! And some of the songs I never heard before so they did nothing for me in those respective scenes.

How did you feel about star lord not wearing his mask? I with there was one scene of him wearing it with his suit.

Loved the film.

My ranking is 3,1 and 2. All three films are amazing though.

A classic franchise🤝🔥💪

@AmazingFILMporg - friend of mine w encyclopedic comics knowledge was on that a bit but not too harsh. I took it as him not being able to geab it during the spawn deluge that trashed their ships into the docking area. Everything happened so quickly that it potentially could be exained as being not on Starlord’s person and events were unfolding way too quickly to grab it. The boot rockets, however, one would think should have been on his person at all times 🤷‍♂️

@AmazingFILMporg - didn't realize until your comment that he didn't wear his mask. It's not that big of an issue for me.

My ranking is 1, 3, 2. Perhaps my pic for the 2nd best MCU trilogy.
