A QUIET PLACE 2 Will Delve Into The Lore And Backstory Of Its Unsettling Creatures

Although it's a sequel that general audiences didn't need or really ask for, John Krasinski's follow-up to A Quiet Place 2 is shaping up to be one of the most hotly anticipated movies of next year . . .

While many believe that last year's A Quiet Place ended on a mostly satisfactory note, Paramount and the creative team behind the original felt as though the film warranted a sequel, something that was only envisioned after the hugely positive reception to the 2018 horror flick.

In an interview with Indiewire, new vast member Bryan Tyree Henry (Child's Play, Atlanta) revealed that the sequel will delve into how the post-apocalyptic world came to be.

I think that we’re also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it  . . .  more of humanity that survived this thing in this next story

Though the movie is not expected to be a full-on prequel, it is intriguing to learn that Krasinski's A Quiet Place 2 will address some of the many open-ended questions from the first film.

Tyree Henry's character remains a mystery for now.

I'm excited for this, but I just can't help but wonder:

1. Where do they go from here (story-wise)?
2. Can this live up to the success of the original?

This quote is promising, but I'm not holding my breath for this one.

Also, I still can't get over the "convenience" of that random old man standing in the woods that started screaming in the first one.

Can anyone explain that?

@L0RDbuckethead - you mean for story telling wise ? or the likeliness of an old man just being in the woods at that time ?

@knocturnalzen10 - The likeliness of him being there. It just seemed so random and convenient for the sake of the plot.

@L0RDbuckethead - i completely understand ya on that one . not a lot of story went in to the part of the cities, so one would think most people would be there. i guess him being homeless and thinking along the same lines as the family with staying in the woods ..... technically it would be the smartest area's to be in when they come because they would brush against leafs and stuff to give a sign they're coming. that's just a guess tho

@L0RDbuckethead - Hopefully the reveal enough to keep people's interest, but don't over explain things.

@L0RDbuckethead -
In a horror movie, the worst thing you can do is show your monster fully and then go into a sequel knowing what it looks like and how to defeat it - only to then go and explain what it is, why it is and how it's not effective as much as people originally thought.

• Weaken the intimidation of the creature (Creature revealed)
• Weaken the strength of the creatures (Demonstrate how to defeat them)
• Weaken the mystery of the creatures (Explaining origins)
• Weaken the effectiveness of the creatures (Showing how humanity have avoided it)

Then again, these are the same people who decided to have the monster revealed almost immediately in the opening. It's great concept for tension and has been adapted many times to varying levels of success, but the threat of this film is slowly being destroyed by dumb creative decisions.

It won't be as good as the first movie, back story sequels always suck.

I could be wrong. I don't mind if I am. Nothing against these movies, I'm just bewildered they made this. Maybe it has an audience.

@ImmovableForce - The first one grossed $340,939,361. There's an audience.

The premise made for a movie that annoyed me. And I knew it would. A family being quiet the whole movie and then sudden loud noises. And an underwhelming monster concept. I just don't get the appeal. I'll be surprised if this does as well as they hope.

I know that studios want to make money from successful movies by adding on sequels but I think they should just let this one be. There's every possibility that the sequel will be just as good as the first but if it was a movie that never originally intended to have a sequel and they need to find a story to justify a sequel then perhaps they should let the original rest on it's merits and come up with a fresh new movie idea to make instead.

I wouldn't mind seeing a story that shows us a world that has had to adapt to silence, it's an interesting concept lie the urge and they did a similar small first movie contained to one family then expanded

If they have more interesting scenarios in mind they can do more than just build suspense

The only question I want answered is how/who silently planted hundreds of acres of corn. I worked on several farms growing up and this just bothers the hell out of me.
