Not long after finding out the premise of John Krasinski's recent horror film A Quiet Place you most likely had the same thought that crossed everybody else's minds: What about farts?

With the film depicting a world in which creatures will brutally attack based on even the most subtle of unnatural sounds, the question quickly made its way to its star/director - who revealed that it was actually something he and his co-stars discussed on-set.

Here's what Krasinski told Empire, during their podcast:

[Young star of the film; Noah Jupe] was our sounding board for a lot of this. He said, 'What happens if we need to cough?' And I said, 'Well you guys would know to pick up a pillow and cough into the pillow' […] I only imagine now little Noah putting a pillow on his behind and farting into a pillow, knowing that it would save his life. Just try to crop-dust, as long as they're not loud and violent you're going to be fine.

It's not particularly spellbinding, but knowing that the predicament was discussed during production certainly makes you appreciate the effort and world-building behind the film even more. Krasinski also recently revealed some more fascinating and in-depth world-building, in regards to the creatures' origins, which you can check out here.

So, that's how coughs, farts, sneezes, hiccups, or any other involuntary bodily noises would be handled within the film's intriguing and unique apocalypse. Perhaps in one of the supposedly planned sequels we'll see a, mundane to us, involutary noise present a real problem to the film's characters.

What do you think? Are there any other intriguing inconsistences that came to mind whilst you were watching the film? Comment them below, and perhaps we can figure out a solution together.

Between Josh's article yesterday about Vision's penis, and this one about coughing and farting in pillows, I'm having trouble processing all this AAA content :)

@Nebula - Yeah but Josh also posted an article about Vision’s penis 😂😂

@realDonaldDuck - Which one was it? I went through his profile and I can't find it. You're not supposed to cover it if it's already been covered, maybe Josh made that mistake and it was deleted.. 😐

Strange that they go into detail on this yet they didn't seem to have any idea how to deal with the birth when, you know, the baby should be bawling. Not to mention the mother. Still a great movie though.

Tough to even build a shelter

@Toffee - First thing that came to mind at the waterfall was "Why don't they just live there?" If a waterfall is enough to cover up and guy full-pelt yelling, it's enough to cover up some kind of construction.

Also, those warbling animals would not have lasted that long into the apocalypse.

Only flaws I can see. And they're not really flaws, especially the first one.

Also, maybe throw the axe or something, like, try something else.

@Toffee - They're probably aware of what each other sound like. Though I don't know why they'd think a space-shuttle toy making noise means there's food there. If it would have fell off the shelf on its own and made noise would the creature have full-on sprinted and launched at nothing?

@Nebula - Better safe than sorry. Unless they grab and realize "crap, its just a toy!!"

Honestly, farts were the first thing I thought of.

The third act of this has some wonky things happen. What caused the basement hideout to flood? That came out of left field.

So many weird creative choices after such a good act 1 and 2.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - The monster running away once the fireworks started I think. At least, that's what my sister told me it was (I asked after the film).

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon - I think Blunt's character left the washer running when she ran from the monster initially. Which caused the basement to flood, somehow?

That's how I interpreted it.
