First "Nightmare On Elm Street" Poster

First "Nightmare On Elm Street" Poster

We still haven't got a close look at Jackie Earle Haley's Krueger, but that will change as the team gets the word out.

The first poster has surfased at Comic-Con, and I for one am glad they have not tried to change the basic "Freddy" image.

What do you think?

Agreed sir. I think that he was the perfect cast and they probably decided to make the movie just because they knew....I hope he brings some of that Rorshach intensity.

I don't think it really matters if we get a close up view of Haley as Freddy. The makeup is so heavy it will probably look remarkably similar to the original.

This looks like it will be good. As others have stated there is a better feeling on this conceptualization than others, I think. Plus the man behind the makeup is awesome here. Cannot wait!

I'm a big fan of the originals for what they are, but this is seeming good so far. I'm pleased with the casting, and hope they make a more genuine attempt at horror this time, instead of camp.

I thought Friday the 13th kicked ass, but that's because I've loved those movies since I was 8 years old. I'm 29 now. After how much dilution they threw into F13 I was ecstatic that they took it old school with modern day flair. As for Freddy, I think he needed it more than Jason, kinda. Freddy's movies got so out of control they had to bring him into the "real world"? C'mon. This should be a refreshing addition to the Freddy mythos even though it's a reboot. If anything needs a recharged, refreshing reboot, it's Hellraiser. I enjoyed the first two of those, somewhat, and most of the third one, but after that, it's crap. I think it'd be cool if the story was from the Cenobite point of view as opposed to the box. Maybe they could be like "F*ck, someone opened the box again! When will they ever learn?" I don't know. I'm just rambling because I was woken up from my glorious beauty sleep. Soooo tired! Hope I don't fall into dream land!

(sigh) another reboot (sigh) @leee bite your tongue. don't ever mention a sequel to freddy vs jason. that abomination doesn't deserve it. friday was ok for a horror film. its the suspense that make horror films worth watching. halloween failed at that and was a complete snoozefest. i hope freddy delivers

This remake will smoke the original. While I'm a prick when it comes to most reboots, this is a different animal. Jackie is a talent, and was one before watchmen. This Freddy will eclipse Englunds, bet the farm.

Well i've always been a fan of Friday the 13Th movies but not so much of Freddie. I loved "New Nightmare" and "Freddie vs Jason" though, so i'm looking forward to see how good Jackie's gonna be!!! The "remake" of F13 IMO, wasn't a remake. It had nothing to do with the first film. It was just a separate storyline. A good hack and slash movie if your into that sort of thing like i am. Plus there were more tits in that movie than the whole collection of previous ones put together LOL AMEN FOR TITS!!!! I think this "re-imaging" will kick ass and i agree that this character desperately needs it. Oh and Freddie's movies ALWAYS lacked in boobage, so MORE TITS IN THE NEXT i hope :))

Yeah this is nothin special. Anyone with photoshop coulda made it. Plus these remakes all suck so I'm sure this one won't be any different.

WulfComicFan - 7/23/2009, 9:41 AM
Wow, everyone's always so negative.

That being said, I like Jeakie Earle, but he will NEVER live up to Robert Englund, c'mon Robert created Freddy. Jackie could do good, but all in all, how much can you change the story? Not enough to make it original.
harrisonefreeman
harrisonefreeman - 7/23/2009, 9:54 AM
Let's face it though, the Nightmare on Elm Street movies are nothing special now. The first 2 or 3 were probably pretty awesome in their day but after a billion sequels it's hard to gain a fresh perspective on a story.

I THINK THEY MAY GO THE WAY HEATH AND NOLAN TACKLED JOKER...HE'S GONNA BE SICK DEMENTED AND REALLY REALLY SCARY, AND WITH TECHNOLOGY AND CGI AT ITS BEST..THIS MIGHT BE THE COOLEST KRUEGER EVER

this movie is going to be pretty sweet, but I don't know if this guy can top Robert Englund's performance.
WulfComicFan
WulfComicFan - 7/23/2009, 10:48 AM
@ Gunsmith, just because of technology and cgi, doesn't mean the movie will be scary. It's hard to make a real scary movie nowadays, I feel because we are so desensitized.
dizzle716
dizzle716 - 7/23/2009, 12:20 PM
At least he gets to wear the same hat he did in Watchmen, jk :P

I, for one, am looking forward to this movie. The attempts at horror films recently have just been adaptations of the Japanese horror films. Same ol' thing, some weird kid, with dark eyes, walking funny and making noises like dragging the needle across a record (records are those black circle things people used to use to play music, for the youngins).

They have a chance to make this really good and refreshing to the genre after all of the spamming they did with the recent films. Only good looking horror movie that comes to mind recently is Drag Me To Hell, but I have yet to see it, so take it for what it's worth.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/23/2009, 1:42 PM
Drag me to Hell was good, it was tense and frightening in parts, yknow, like a horror movie is supposed to be! Even when i was 10 years old that [frick]ing claw handed nonce never scared me..and the movies got progressively worse until it just wasn't funny..even though they were basically trying to be comedies. Same with all the Friday the 13th pieces of shit..the remake worst of all.

Halloween was great, that really creeped me out as a kid..and the original can still kinda!

By the way, how do you post pictures on here? Anyone know? Thanks

i admit i am not the biggest fan of horror movie remakes(with the exception of the thing and dawn of the dead), but Jackie Earle Haley just might make a horror icon that became just silly over time frightening again. hell he made the Watchmen film...watchable.
Bandrews1
Bandrews1 - 7/23/2009, 3:00 PM
I'm really digging this, I'm glad they are going to keep the original look. I think Jackie Earle Haley will pull it off.
mativ16
mativ16 - 7/23/2009, 3:30 PM
I thought begins & casino royal were reboots not remakes. If not then why does everyone describe them as one.
Osiris
Osiris - 7/23/2009, 9:09 PM
they are reboots... there is no getting around it, the only thing that is confusing about the bond reboot is Judi Dench as M, she was in all the Pierce Bond films and now the reboots..... but if it works for Bond maybe that will give Routh a shot at Supes again
Shadowelfz
Shadowelfz - 7/23/2009, 9:48 PM
Yeah Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm street were cool, but they never creeped me out. Freddys jokes killed the fear factor and Jason kept to Crystal lake so I was never afraid of him. Michael Myers, however, was not some supernatural ghost or zombie but a psycho in a mask that murders kids. That scared me because he could be real.Plus the whole stoic not-talking thing didnt help the matter...
RockNRollCC
RockNRollCC - 7/23/2009, 11:40 PM
halloween remake did suck, and guess what, Rob Zombie is attempting to remake the series. part 2 comes out in august. yipeedipeedooo.

can't wait to see nightmare on elm street tho. think about it guys, this is the guy who brought us the great proformance of Rorschach, and he wuz ok in that movie little children as th rapist. just put those 2 characters 2gether, darken him up a bit + make him a little more evil/bad, and we've got Freddy!

poster looks cool too
