I was given an interview with Horror film and Graphic Novel writer
Thomas Fenton, who co-wrote the story for
Saw IV, and
I Spit On Your Grave 2 in the wake of the review I wrote on the film;
found here on CBM. In regards to the latter and its recent September release, we talked about the film, how he got involved, and even some other interesting tidbits. During the interview I had asked Thomas about a random rumor going around the internet (that is no longer referenced online), about the film carrying over into a comic and graphic novel series; where the protagonist, Katie, may possibly be utilized like a “Punisherette” character hunting down criminals and rapists.
EFC: I read a rumor online that this franchise might be written into a graphic novel, with Katie as the main protagonist, kind of a “Punisherette” against rapists? Are any of those rumors true? Is there anything you know about this? Or, possibly, would you be writing it [since you’ve written a couple of graphic novels before]?
TF: [chuckles] I don’t think I can comment on that.
EFC: [chuckles] O.K., I totally understand. It would be great if you did write it!
TF: Yeah, Yeah…It’s interesting, it’s interesting…I don’t, I…It’s very interesting.
EFC / TF: [laughter]
EFC: “It’s interesting…” I’ll write that! I’ll put “chuckles” on your comment, no worries. I’ll let the fans speculate, they love to do that.
TF: That will be great! [laughs]
If any of you have seen the recent horror film
I Spit on Your Grave 2, what do you think? Would you want to see a graphic novel on the subject? About a young struggling model in New York, who gets brutally raped and buried alive, who (somehow) escapes death to get her revenge? To Watch her become a vigilante, hunting and killing rapists, in graphic detail; a lady version of Dexter hunting down those in the human slavery trade.
What do the Horror comic fans here on CBM think about this? I’m hoping Thomas can’t talk about this (possible) project because he is currently writing the book.
Take a look at his other graphic novel releases,
Dominion, by
Humanoids/DC Comics already here in the US, and
L'Armée Des Anges (The Army Of Angels) which was released in Europe and will be making its American release titled
Seraph very soon.
Keep an eye out for the interview and other tidbits of news on this possible GN project.
