THE MEAN ONE Trailer Sends The Grinch On A Murderous Holiday Rampage

You've seen the poster, now check out the first trailer for Atlas Film Distribution's upcoming horror parody The Mean One, which reimagines The Grinch as even more of a miserable bastard!

The Grinch has never exactly been full of joyful Christman Spirit, but he's taking bah humbg to a whole new level in The Mean One.

On the heels of the recent poster, Atlas has debuted the first trailer for its upcoming horror parody, which reimagines the beloved character as a murderous maniac.

This unofficial retelling of the classic Christmas tale stars David Howard Thornton (Terrifier 2's Art the Clown) as the familiar-looking green grouch (they can't actually use the name Grinch), who brutally dispatches young Cindy You-Know-Who's (Krystle Martin) parents one Christmas Eve.

20 years later, a well-trained Cindy vows to trap the miserable monster and end his reign of terror once and for all.

Like Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, this is a low-budget effort that really shouldn't be taken very seriously. It might be good for a few laughs, but it's difficult to imagine The Mean One turning out to be much more than an amusing distraction this Holiday season (hey, sometimes that's enough).

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think

"In the audacious new parody, The Mean One (Terrifier 2‘s David Howard Thornton) is a hairy, green-skinned grump in a Santa suit, living on a mountain high above the town of Newville, despising the holiday season. Young Cindy You-Know-Who (Krystle Martin), whose parents were butchered by The Mean One twenty Christmases earlier, is returning to town to seek closure… but when the Mean One launches a new reign of terror that threatens to destroy Christmas, Cindy finds a bold new purpose – trapping and killing the monster."

Directed by Steven LaMorte, The Mean One also stars Chase Mullins, John Bigham, Erik Baker, Flip Kobler, and Amy Schumacher.

This looks like it was shot in with a motel filter. Same thing for the Poo movie.

Just like Blood and Honey, this looks terrifyingly intriguing. I honestly might have to check both movies out.

Well it sure has that high quality look to it...

It's probably about how Jim Carrey felt inside his Grinch prosthetics, which was properly miserable for him, bordering on having panic attacks. Someone from the CIA was brought in to train him on how to endure torture, just to be able to cope through the production, because being in the grinch suit was said to be unbearably claustrophobic.

As anyone that has been out in public since the end of October can surely attest to going on a murderous rampage over Christmas is quite relatable. Personally I might set an orphanage on fire if I hear Mariah Carey one more time.

@Reeds2Much - I feel the exact same way. Mariah is so completely overplayed.

@Reeds2Much - Well, if the orphans happen to hear her song first, I'm sure they'll allow it.

@Reeds2Much - try to escape Wham! this season too. Impossible

@Reeds2Much - Santa needs to show some God damn respect and keep his big red ass out of everyone’s way until after Thanksgiving. Is this too much to ask?! FML!

I can't help but feel like this premise could have been something special had it not been a "parody of a children's classic". It could have went something like this:

"Every Christmas in a mountain town in Colorado the residents lock their doors. Legend speaks of a beast who goes on a vicious rampage every year on the same day at the same time. A young girl witnesses her parents get murdered by the beast but survives. As time goes on she has trained herself to become a hardened hunter to put the beast down and prove to the world that it exists"

It could have been called Devilmas or something of that nature. With a decent budget and a good lead actress it would have been an interesting dark Christmas flick.
