Dave@ It's like we watched different a different movie. I thought the action was better and more well-paced in the second movie. Why wouldn't the general public like that? My friends certainly did. Different strokes for different folks. :-)

I am just glad it beat out Robin Hood, considering I am boycotting that film.

I saw Robin Hood, and I'm sad to say I was not impressed. Kinda expecting a little more from the star and director of Gladiator. The truth is I only had one or two problems with the movie (which was with the writing), but those problems have the potential to ruin the movie for me. I felt so confused through the first hour with the introduction of the characters and all the plots of the film. I mean I was able to piece together and figure out what was going on eventually, but that shouldn't be up to the viewing audience to do or at least I felt that it wasn't what Ridley Scott had intended for the audience. Also as the movie kept progressing it felt less and less about Robin Hood and more about the politics of England at the time. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either. I would have rather spent another $7.00 on Iron Man 2. It was certainly a more solid movie. I hope it continues to do well.

oh btw... if you feel like hearing my opinion on the new Spidey Reboot and feel like throwing your opinion up for all to see, check out my article:

For the record I think pimping articles is bad and rude to the writer who's article you're commenting on and I'm not gonna make a habit out of this. So yeah... now my ass is covered...

@Ranger: Why are you boycotting the film (er, other than everything I just said)

ReillyParker@ For the reasons you said...doesn't appear to me to be the kind of Robin Hood I would like, plus Russell Crowe is way too old for the Robin Hood that I enjoy. Watched a documentary on the History Channel for Robin Hood and they were discussing that the stories and written documents indicate that Robin and his Merry Men were a young group of men and that is how I always visualized it. Add in the fact I don't care too much for Russell Crowe. How was his Irish accent? lol
ReillyParker
ReillyParker - 5/16/2010, 2:21 PM
@Ranger: LoL I didn't really think much of the accent, I actually never pay attention to them in movies. If the actor's accent is somewhere from the UK and the movie takes place somewhere in the UK I almost completely buy into it. What I did have a hard time buying into was an Irish ginger Will Scarlet. I could never imagine him being Irish.

Oh it probably didn't help Crowe's cause that the movie was about how Robin Hood starts out. Yeah they took a lot of liberties with the story.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 5/16/2010, 2:33 PM
That's part of my issue with what I heard prior. If it is about how Robin Hood starting out, they should've cast someone much younger than Crowe. Add in the fact I was a big fan of the BBC series and that is how I view Robin Hood. It's okay if they want to give it a different story and twist, but not with Crowe and it's not something that appeals to me.

Excellent. Regardless of your feelings about Iron Man 2 (I though it was brilliant!) it's success can only be a good thing for the future of Marvel movies! :)

gtrman@ Like I said, it's okay if they decided to do a completely different story in this film, but a 46 year old Robin Hood doesn't interest me, especially when it is Crowe playing him. :P

No desire to watch this turd. Crowe is a mega douche and I could tell from the previews that it would not hold my interest (or worth $12 for that matter).

I'm still disappointed over I.M.2, but I want it to be the most successful movie of the year, so that Marvel can keep pumping them out!!!!

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Dave-I'm pretty sure you're saying that because you're a DC fan. I took the wife (whose comic reading is comprised of only Jeff Smith's "Bone" and the first book of "Y the Last Man") and she thoroughly enjoyed it (i.e. not a comic geek). The action was well placed throughout the film and Rockwell was one of the best non-action villains in a CBM. Looking forward to the DC stuff as well.

@brazilianbatman-You were expecting more from IM2 and want to see Shrek 4. Really?

@gtrman-Maybe Robin Hood started out because of a mid-life crisis.

My wife and I just saw Iron Man 2. After the mixed bag reviews, I went in with moderate expectations. And that wasn't necessary, because we both had a great time. It proved that some people coming down on movies like this, like to be negative about it because that's what they're best at in life. It's the reason we have movie critics, who otherwise would be starving in the streets because they have no other talent in life. :)

Bless their stressed little hearts and runaway blood pressure. :D

Iron Man 2 rules!!

Going to see it this weekend. Have been waiting to see it with my son. On Eonline they are saying Iron man is not doing so well. They thought it would have done $60 Million its second week and since it hasn't pulled its weight (dropping more then 50%)they are almost calling it a weak movie and that it is not meating expectations????? So what is it???? Making money or not as strong as people thought it was going to do???

Awesome piece. I love comics, I adore graphic novels and always eagerly await comic book and action movies. I’m almost always disappointed. Iron Man 2 and everything about it made me sad.
Great writing though. Ever Brite Smile
