I concur with Anil on this. It looks like absolute shit.

That's not all though. It's also about 21/2 inches too small. It would never provide good coverage or fit on Cap's back.
Cook
Cook - 5/1/2010, 10:21 AM
I think it's suppose to be unfinished or a prototype. As in Tony is in the middle of building it. So negative over a 30 second clip with no sound.
Ryden
Ryden - 5/1/2010, 10:22 AM
Yeah that looks like crap, I'm guessing it;s obly half done though because there's only half a star...but eventhen there's no red on it and it's all "teched out"..sorry Faverau but not everything in the Marvel Universe is tech based..and that includes Cap's shield.
RockNRollCC
RockNRollCC - 5/1/2010, 10:23 AM
guys calm down

thats prolly just a prototype, an unfinished one at that.
Cook
Cook - 5/1/2010, 10:25 AM
Ryden. If there isn't any tech in it then explain how a round disk returns to him like a boomer rang.
BassMan
BassMan - 5/1/2010, 10:25 AM
wow, i know people b*tch alot about small details on this site... but c'mon. the shield wasn't even finished and it was faithful. this is when you remove the stick out of your body guys

The shield sounded like a piece of tin in the film too. Definately a prototype.

the Shield ment to be unfinished or prototype. anyway if you watch Iron Man 1 again its the same unfinished shield his been working on.
Ashdm
Ashdm - 5/1/2010, 10:33 AM
I'm pretty sure it's the same shield in the background in IM1?
It's just the same shield that's been lying around in Tony's workshop. I'm pretty sure that was the only cap reference in IM2, but I probably missed some...
Ryden
Ryden - 5/1/2010, 10:34 AM
@cook- Well because in the comics it is made of a material called vibranium that is incredibley dense and is very hard to damage it and because of it's manipulation of sound it allows to bounce of walls or something like that. Remember this is a COMIC BOOK FILM, it doesn't have to be realistic. I mean Thor comes out ntext..do we need a tech explanation for that? "How does Thor's hammer come back to him without tech?" Doesn't that sound silly?

It's called suspension of disbelief.

Guys, it's just an easter egg for fans and not Captain America's actual shield!

Notice how Coulson recognises it? That points to Cap having a round shield in WWII!

DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:36 AM
its called he had that thing in ww2 in the comics what the hell is it doing in iron man and i thought it was made out of adamantium
fullmoonfx
fullmoonfx - 5/1/2010, 10:39 AM
it's either a prototype or the way tony looks at it and kind of shoves it away, maybe he already used it for parts or done some tests on it. either way guys, it not terrible i actually would'nt mind something similar in the cap movie.
DrJoeGonzo
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:39 AM

@Anil

i know, but don't you think it's too early in the game to be bashing stuff that hasn't been clarified? i bet it's just an unfinished prototype that Tony's dad had plans for back in WWII, and Tony just made a prototype of it, and he obviously just didn't finish or didn't care after that. Not all prototypes are masterpeices. I imagine that's why they're using it there, because it's useless now, and they haven't discovered Cap yet (because the deleted scene from Incredible Hulk was just happening at the time I suppose.) So don't you think they'll update Cap's shield when they find him?
DrJoeGonzo
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:42 AM
that deleted scene never really showed cap
kitboy33
kitboy33 - 5/1/2010, 10:43 AM
My word, it's obviously not the end result that Cap will be using. Some of you guys really should leave this site for a bit and get laid....particularly, Anil Rickly.

what a smuge looking thing in the snow, come on man
contrast
contrast - 5/1/2010, 10:48 AM
@Cook-- Cap's shield is made of a special blend of vibranium, which is a metal that (at least in the comics) absorbs kinetic energy, thus never loses momentum when it hits something, which allows the shield to return to Cap...
DrJoeGonzo
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:48 AM

@ wolves

oh yeah i know what your talking about now ive seen that one
Cook
Cook - 5/1/2010, 10:52 AM
Ryden that is apples and oranges. Thor is a "god" with rainbow bridges, giants and magic. Captain America is a man. But OK you're right about the vibranium. No what would be cool is if Tony's shield is destroyed in Avengers. Then after the credits they show him in Wakanda for the precious metal talking to a certain king.

DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:53 AM

DrJoeGonzo
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:57 AM
@ hawks

i agree because if that pic up there is really real then you can obviously see that the shield is round in the snow
