IRON MAN 3 Makes The Best Movies Of The Year's List From Forbes Magazine

Unfortunately for the naysayers, Marvel Studios Iron Man 3 is not only the most public acclaimed superhero film of the year, it's also one of the most critically acclaimed superhero films in the recent history. Click here to find out what Forbes Magazine has to say about the film!

As the new year comes closer, Iron Man 3 has been featured in a lot of the best movies of the year lists, especially among the main movie websites, among films like Gravity and 12 Years A Slave.

After Empire Magazine and The Huffington Post to name a few labeled the third entry in the Iron Man franchise the best superhero film of the year, and a "Best Action Movie" nomination by the Critic's Choice Movie Awards, this time Forbes Magazine is the one giving Iron Man 3 the praise the film deserves, with Scott Mendelson claiming it's "easily the best "conventional" blockbuster of 2013". Read below the full excerpt:

This is the kind of whip-smart blockbuster than almost ennobles the would-be genre. Yes, it’s a special effects-filled action romp that’s part of an ongoing franchise, but it’s also an individual work of art, a case of Marvel being willing to diversify their ongoing feature films even at the expense of the bigger picture. Not only did Shane Black get to make a Shane Black movie in the guise of a $200 million blockbuster, he gave us some of the sharpest political commentary of the year in the form of the year’s best plot twist, a twist that Disney miraculously kept secret until the film actually opened via a subversion of marketing expections, and brought genuine closure to the series. Comic fans carped about source fidelity, but let them eat cake, since it made $1.2 billion anyway. Iron Man 3 is an exciting and intelligent adventure picture that is as funny and character-driven as it is action-packed, with the stand-up and applaud action sequence of the year. Iron Man 3 is easily the best “conventional” blockbuster of 2013.

I personally think that Iron Man 3 is the best solo entry from the Marvel Studios so far. For a blockbuster - especially a superhero blockbuster - it is more clever than it deserves, delivering a political commentary in the "war on terror" more efficiently than anything out in The Dark Knight Trilogy. And you, what do you think? Sound off in the usual place.

Official Sinopsys:
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

STARRING:

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin
Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
Don Cheadle as Rhodey/War Machine
Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian
Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen
Ashley Hamilton as Jack Taggert
James Badge Dale as Eric Savin
Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan

Avaliable everywhere in blu-ray, dvd, iTunes and etc..

LOL. Man of Steel is barely better than Green Lantern. DC fanboys claiming that shit isn't shit won't suddenly turn shit to gold. The people AND the critics have spoken: Iron Man 3 is THE superhero film of the year. A website filled with disfranchised fanboys and their fakes won't change that.

Stop acting like you're right. Personally, I thought both films were extremely disappointing, but it's all just opinion. Nobody's right.

Haha, you petty fanboys are having a right pissing contest posting any article you can find in which your movie of choice is listed as 'Best of the Year'. Petty, but not surprising.

The twist pissed people off simply because they didn't see it coming, and it's not what "they" would have done.
It was done well, it served the plot of the movie, and gave a new method for adapting a villain in a movie (by making him a parody of itself).
Perhaps the reason that "DC fans" seem to hate the twist in particular is because they see it as such an insolent act, that Marvel is so confident in its business that it can trick viewers, ruin a comic book villain, and still do it well. On top of that they get praised for making a smart movie with a ballsy twist.
Let's be more open minded, folks.

I don't give a [frick] what critics say. They don't judge my opinion, I do. And I think IM3 doesn't deserve this.

A magazine doesn't change shit, just because it tries to make it look good, a shit stays a shit.

Like Grif would say: Shit movie, shit trilogy, but the first one was good.

@0megaDaGod

I can see your point, and I can even concede with the haters in the preview of the article, but the TDK part is essential. I feel like TDKR failed to make a commentary in the war on terror, and by that I mean that they failed to make an efficient one. Iron Man 3 in the other hand delivered in spades, and I wish to see Marvel thinking outside the box just like they did with Iron Man 3 more often. I applaud them for making one of the most interesting blockbusters in the recent memory, if not my favorite one after The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man.

@MrReese

Actually, Warner owns both Empire Magazine AND Rotten Tomatoes. Empire Magazine praised Iron Man 3 highly in their best movies of the year list, while Man of Steel was nowhere to be found. And the less we talk about Man of Steel's Rotten Tomatoes scores the better.

Do you know what I think it's funny?

Before The Avengers, people claimed that TDKR would be the biggest film of 2012 and win Oscars, best film included.

After it was clear that TDKR would never beat The Avengers, neither in quality or at the box office, the fanboys turned to campaign for the film to get an Oscar nomination. As we know, nada.

In 2013, after Iron Man 3, people mocked Iron Man 3's critic reception because it "only" got 77% at RT. A lot of people here were claiming that Man of Steel would be the best film ever and cure cancer, winning Oscars left and right and become a critic darling.

And just now the critics don't matter? Really? LOL.

"A lot of people here were claiming that Man of Steel would be the best film ever and cure cancer, winning Oscars left and right and become a critic darling."

Over exaggeration at it's finest.

I think it's fair to say people had high expectations, and I think it's fair to say a lot, if not majority, were met with those expectations. (Including myself)

The Avengers have more quality than TDKR? TDKR is the better movie, only fanboys deny that. DC has no shit, but the greates CBM trilogy, marvel could bring more movies and they aren't that bad, Blade is the best movie, marvel could make, today they produce too much sitcom.

ezio619 - 12/30/2013, 9:46 AM
Theblacknerd-the difference is that spiderman 3 is not well done, it has too many plotlines that dont need to be in there, it butchers the symbiote, not to mention the various scenes of symbiote parker,i have kind of washed that film from my memory while iron man 3 imo has a tight script with a focused narrative, it connects things naturally, not through forced exposition, sure it has a few faults but it maintains in telling a cohesive narrative imo

well, heres the thing: i feel marvel just had a different idea of what to do with the mandarin, now if they had done the mandarin straight to and flubbed him as sony did venom in spiderman 3, that is what would be butchering but instead they had a different idea, a different interpretation, just like comics do all the time and for people who say they retconned the ten rings and such, well we know the tenrings reference was connected to the mandarin in the first film and we assumed that he was the guy behind them but it is never stated in the film , he is not once mentioned by name, if he was,i would have aproblem with this twist too but he wasnt, they went a different direction

ezio619 - 12/30/2013, 9:51 AM
now before any one goes and calls me a marvelite, i thought Thor Tdw was good but had a lot of problems and was the weakest superhero film for me personally, then iron man 3 at third place, man of steel at 2nd and the wolverine at 1st

anyway, debates for iron man 3 and even man of steel will go on until the end of time it seems, hell you can make everyone happy, even the wolverine and thor 2 got some dissenting opinions,its fine, opinions make the world interesting aslong as they intelligently discussed
Darthzilla
Darthzilla - 12/30/2013, 9:55 AM
@LMB10
I think they mean that if they think that one occasion of a character being done incorrectly is fine, and then they turn around and bitch about Venom, Parallax, Galactus, ect. that it's kind of hypocritical. Not what I think but I think that's what they're trying to get at
ezio619
ezio619 - 12/30/2013, 9:58 AM
Darthzilla-ok, so what do standalone character comics add to the overall universe?, nothing much except the evolution of the character and it progressed tony, who at the start of the film was afraid of not being able to protect the people he loves , feeling that without the suit he is nothing and at the end, he gives it all up, pepper even asks him if he wants to ,she doesnt tell him to do it, he makes the choice, he is now in a commited relationship and he realizes that the suit doesnt make the man, the man makes the suit

there are many factorsthat make someone like a film or not, besides a treatment of a character such as if the script is good, the pacing is good etc

Duh, it's FORBES magazine. Iron Man 3 made the most money, therefore it must be the best movie, just like a Lamborghini is the best car in the world. If McDonald's introduced a $200 limited edition Big Mac, Forbes would call it the greatest burger ever.
