Things WILL be renegotiated. RDJ loves his fans, fans love RDJ, Marvel loves the love between RDJ and his fans. They love the money he's bringing in to the franchise, they won't let him go for a while.

Avengers 2&3, Iron Man 4. Three more movies, i guess.

He is the FIRST amd only actor who should play him! Although I think 3 solo movies are enough and I only want him in Avengers 2 and 3 maybe a cameo now and then though!

1 more trilogy and recast him.

it's funny, because Iron Man was probably the most infamous one of the Avengers. But after the movies came out, he took the first spot. Now, Marvel can't go without him.

@grif

there is always Ghost.

Ghost, Ezekiel Stane, Mandarin, living laser, firepower. Maybe even a team up movie like Hulk/Iron Man.

Plenty of stories to tell.

Mandarin, a twist after the twist !!!

What do you think about it?
Why would he need plastic surgery?

No more movies
Just put him in Avengers movies

killing him off would be the most stupid way to go.
Just let him stay as the consultant.

oh, i just heard about it this morning. Must wait one more week to watch the movie and figure it out myself :)

but if there is a twist after twist (so to speak), it will be really difficult for Marvel to go from there.

*sigh* not this sh*t again. IM3 wrapped up everything about the character in a satisfactory way, so quit the "little integrity left" bullsh*t.

I'm f*cking sick of every Iron Man article turning into the CBM.com butthurt parade. get over it or GTFO.

Anyway if Shane Black won't return, Downey will probably would wanna go for Guy Ritchie as the new director. Not my kind of choice.

@TheYoungMan

they could pay him less. And ask him if he would do some cameos.
AFTER the Avengers 2 &3 and Iron Man 4 of course (my mistake).He could be consultant after that. That's the best way to go, both for Marvel and Robert.

What if fury dies and Stark takes over as Shield director.
jerryblake
jerryblake - 5/1/2013, 10:49 PM
@Starkasm

i don't think that is going to happen. We could see Fury been suspended, then discharged. Then Stark could take his place.
Kinda like Civil War thing, but not with Maria Hill as a director.
Then we can go with Avengers fighting each other.
Starkasm
Starkasm - 5/1/2013, 10:51 PM
Id be happy with that.

@TheGodKiller

I don't think they'd need to tone the action at all. With Iron Man 3, they kind of went an unorthodox route and and gave the lion's share of the action to Tony Stark. They'd basically need to go back to formula in regard to the brunt of the action being Iron Man related.

Besides, if Harrison Ford could handle action some action into his mid 50's and early to mid 60's, I think RDJ could handle it (particularly as he's in the best shape of his life). He'd actually have to ramp back his inner alpha male and let the stunt men do their thing.
TerminalVoyd
TerminalVoyd - 5/2/2013, 2:17 AM
Given that's between a third and a quarter of their baseline production budget, I don't think they'd give him $40 million. However, I think he's pretty likely to score a Nicholson style deal, where he'll get X up front and even more on the back end. Profit sharing is a beautiful thing.
HavocPrime

Kinda obvious he was going too as he loves the role and people love him doing it.
marvelstudios

He'll be back for Avengers 2. By the time Avengers 3 comes RDJ will be too old. I think the best replacement would be Bradley Cooper.
staypuffed
staypuffed - 5/2/2013, 2:58 AM
Avengers 2 should finish Iron Man's story.
I think Iron Man 3 capped off the Tony story. Don't go to Iron Man 4. We don't need it. Put him in the team once more and finish up.
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/2/2013, 4:07 AM
of course he'll be back & i'm glad we're gonna see more iron man films with him.
AlexDeLarge87

I think it would be cool idea if Avengers 2 and 3 would be two parted story ala Pirates of the Caribbean. Second movie having villains who work for Thanos like Loki in the first. Suggestion: Red Skull. And the third having Thanos.

Those two could be RDJ´s last Iron Man films sametime. I would love to see him focusing on other projects. But if they invent a good story i could see him return for fourth Iron Man.
AlexDeLarge87
AlexDeLarge87 - 5/2/2013, 4:15 AM
Or they could just simply make a one epic three hour Avengers 2 movie which has Thanos as the main villain. Other villains can be saved for Cap and Thor solo movies.

I say let IM3 be the last of the IM films, but bring him "out of retirement" for Avengers 2/3. In Phase 3 give Hulk and Iron Man a team up flick.
