IRON MAN 3 Star Guy Pearce Talks Possible Aldrich Killian Return In IRONHEART Or ARMOR WARS (Exclusive)

With a lot of Iron Man-related projects in the works from Marvel Studios, could Aldrich Killian rise from the dead to plague Ironheart and War Machine? Here's what Guy Pearce told us about the possibility!

Last week, we caught up with The Infernal Machine star Guy Pearce over email to discuss his role in that new action thriller from Paramount Movies. You'll have to check back here tomorrow for our full conversation with the actor, but while we had this opportunity, we asked him about possibly returning to the MCU.

As we're sure you'll remember, Pearce played the villainous A.I.M. Leader Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3. Revealed as the one pulling the fake Mandarin's strings, he'd later declare himself the Mandarin...only to get swiftly blown up.

The nature of "Extremis" means it's possible the villain could return, and with projects like Ironheart and Armor Wars on the horizon, now feels like a good time for A.I.M. to rise from the ashes. With that in mind, we asked if there's anything left with the character he'd like to explore in those projects given how much the MCU has expanded and evolved since 2013.

"Absolutely! I’m not sure what though," Pearce admitted. "I don’t know enough about the MCU but I feel there are endless possibilities, especially for a character like Aldrich Killian."

"Firstly, I’d have to come back from the dead, so all bets are off really with that as a starting place..."

This isn't the first time Pearce has expressed enthusiasm to return to the MCU as Killian, so we're hoping Marvel Studios is paying attention. There are already rumblings that Obidiah Stane's son will factor into Ironheart, and revisiting A.I.M. and Killian in that and/or Armor Wars makes sense on a number of levels.

If nothing else, we're sure the villain's legacy will play into these Iron Man-adjacent stories. For now, though, we can't recommend watching his work in The Infernal Machine highly enough (watch the trailer and an exclusive clip from the movie below).

Paramount Movies' The Infernal Machine is now playing in select theaters and available on Digital platforms.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - if we're doing it properly Killian's role should be like 5 seconds of him killing himself.

I think they ended his story well enough… I’d rather see Justin Hammer getting back to his old shenanigans.

@slickrickdesigns - he definitely deserves another shot. Just saw see how they run the other day and he was amazing in it

@slickrickdesigns - Weird how Iron Man 2 is the most boring of Phase 1-3, but Sam Rockwell as Hammer is somehow captivating.

@OrgasmicPotatoe - well I’d say the Dark World was the most boring. But yeah IM2 was not the best but Hammer was great.

The Armor Wars without Tony Stark/Ironman will be like a Harry Potter sequel without Harry Potter.

Besides the Extremis nonsense and him claiming to be the Mandarin, I liked him as a villain.

As others have said though, I’d much rather see Justin Hammer back.

Glad to see other Justin Hammer fans out there. IMO he wa the best thing about IM2. If Rockwell is not in Armor Wars, it will be a travesty!!!

No thank you. His character being so lame is probably the reason why the Mandarin twist became so divisive.

Guy Pearce is such an underrated actor and I'll always be super disappointed that this is how he his talents were used in the MCU.

Back in the day (late 90s/early 00s) he was always my pick to play Daredevil.

Also I've always been surprised that he's never teamed up with Nolan again since Memento.

Yeah, I have no real interest in even seeing that character again.

It sucks, because I think Pierce is a good actor, but he often seems to be in roles where he feels wasted. He's fantastic in Memento of course.

I liked the copout Mandarin with Trevor Slattery and Killian being the real Mandarin. Don't need him returning though

I thoroughly enjoyed Ironman 3, I wouldn't mind him returning, but I don't see why would he for armor wars

I liked him just fine as well as the Mandarin twist and I love Guy Pearce as an actor (The Proposition is [frick]ing top tier)... but there would be no point in bringing him back.
Shang-Chi showing that Extremis is still out there is good enough to me.

@Slotherin - The Proposition is so dang good.
