Rapper/Actor Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris Lost A Role In IRON MAN 3

Confirming that the Marvel franchise that had approached him for a role was for the third installment to the Iron Man movies, ATL and Takers rapper-turned-actor T.I. says things didn't work out.

Rapper-turned-actor T.I., Clifford Joseph Harris, revealed back in March that he was being courted for a role in an existing Marvel franchise's newest installment. And while promoting his latest album, via Rap-Up TV, the Grammy-winning artist not only confirmed that Iron Man 3 was the film in question, but also that he turned it down. Check the video interview with the ATL star below.

“I was being considered for this one film. Now that it's over with, I can say it. Iron Man 3. I was being considered for Iron Man 3 and it wasn't to be Iron Man, it was to be another character in the film but our schedules did not align and they had to do their little movie anyway. I told them go on ahead, I didn't want to get in their way. [laughs] But yeah man, I mean, I think my dream movie is an action-comedy. I want to do another Lethal Weapon or 48 Hours or Bad Boys. I want to do those types of movies.”

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are exec producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

What he's trying to say is, he was gonna be the third Rhodey - and at the end of the film, they'd reveal all three of the Rhodeys and say they were triplets and Stark never knew.

Wonder who they wanted him for... Wouldn't b surprised if he was the third Rhodey; Don Cheadle is probably the most random and worst casting choice by Marvel, felt almost like they cast as a last minute, first-guy-we-can-get decision

he is a good actor seeing from ATL.. and he was decent in Takers, but pulled his role well. So i wouldnt mind seeing him in any comic book movie. Maybe marvel will offer him another role and he will get it. Then most of ya fanboys will bitch about it, but you cant do anything about it but bitch. Then later on ya will watch the movie, then bash his acting saying he would be the weakest one, just because you dont like the guy.

In what world is he a good actor? Serious? He was one of the things, besides Chris Brown and Anakin, that ruined what could have been a good movie.

@Osidious... I haven't seen him in ATL, so can't judge. But I saw Takers, and I really really really wanted to like the movie because I love Idris Elba and Matt Dillon. But when Paul freakin' Walker can out-act you, then you know you're bad. And T.I was horrible.
flames809
flames809 - 12/19/2012, 12:53 PM
does it really matter if he is in a comic book movie or not? Marvel did go for him for a part in the film, who knows if they dont do it again for another marvel film. This is one thing i dislike about fan boys when someone they dont like is in a cmic book film, they will bash that one person even after the film is released. Whats the point?

seejay- Will-i-am was in madagascar 2. And you never know he can be in others.

Alrighty then. Never seen him act really, so I can't say much about that

@Kamen: So, you don't like Will Smith?

@santoanderson: lol, I love that vid. But, you do realize that Will Smith started as a rapper right?

@thewolfx and @SpongeGeek: Always got to bring race into everything huh?

So, if I don't like George Clooney(yeah, I think he sucks), Hayden Christiansen(sp?), or Robert Pattinson I'm racist against white people? And because I don't particularly think that Shawn and Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker(although he was funny in the Rush Hour movies), or Tyrese Gibson are great actors, I'm racist?

I mean I think Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Common, Idris Elba, Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Clarke Duncan(RIP), James Earl Jones, and(at one point) Eddie Murphy are terrific actors. But since I don't like a few black actors I'm racist right? Not everything has to with race. Maybe, it's revolutionary I know, people don't like this specific actor because they think he is a terrible actor? It's possible to have an opinion not based on race you know.

So please kindly STFU and GTFO with this "they're racist!" bullshit. Thank you

@blackandyellow YES

@SpongGeekNerdGasmPants- I couldn't agree more. And I hope after Craig is gone that Elba will not be too old, he is an ideal James Bond.
