Iron Man 3 Banner

Reports Latino Review, the villainous terrorist group seen in the first Iron Man movie [see below] are set to return in Iron Man 3. In the image below you can make out the symbol for The Ten Rings in the background as the terrorist group reads off a list of demands in exchange for their hostage, Tony Stark. In Iron Man 2, the unnamed man who gave Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) fake documents to enter the US is also thought to be a member of the Ten Rings. The Iron Man 3 crew hat below has the exact same ring logo, indicating what Latino Review believes to be an indication that The Ten Rings will indeed be in the film. No further details yet as to how this relates to Ben Kingsley's Mandarin. Comic book fans will of course know that The Ten Rings are actual rings in the comic books and the source of The Mandarin's powers. Could things be coming full circle for Tony Stark in Iron Man 3?

I'm hoping that they don't just kill off Mandarin at the end. He could be saved for one of the members of the Masters of Evil.

don't expect iron man 3 to make any money in china if they show the mandarin/china in a bad way.

it effected the dark knight,so its bound to effect iron man 3.

I'm hoping that the success of the Avengers might mean that they can actually use the magic rings as super alien tech!

Makes sense with mandarin being in this. I do like how they seem to be trully turning this into an espionage, militray like thriller. Also has shades of Armor Wars to it.

Well, the ten rings in the first movie were middle eastern, so I think it's safe to say that Ben Kingsley will be also. Makes sense considering that the mandarin was pretty much only chinese for political commentary, just like IM

"Mandarin" by definition is Chinese so I don't know how they could have him in the story without referencing his ties to China? As far as I'm concerned they should just screw the overly politically correct BS and have him be of Chinese origin. That doesn't automatically mean he must be portrayed like Charlie Chan from the 30's.

@Marvel72 The film is being co-produced by the Chinese, which is why The Mandarin isn't actually being portrayed by a Chinese actor, and why there are a few Asian supporting actors in the cast. The talk of The Mandarin being a terrorist organisation led by Ben Kingsley's character, the character being the analogue to the comic book Mandarin, is one theory of how the film is working to not offend China.

I think it's more likely that the terrorist organisation is The Ten Rings, and that Ben Kingsley actually plays the character called The Mandarin, because it just fits together better. I'm not sure how they could work The Mandarin title into it without the Chinese connotations, but I'm sure they could figure out a way.

Besides, I'm not sure why China is so touchy about this stuff. I mean, it's not like they're saying the whole of China is evil. They're saying that the villain happens to be Chinese. I mean, look at how many British and American villains there are in films? If anyone should start to feel a bit touchy about villainous stereotyping, it would be Russia, but even that seems to be dying down now.

I'm all for it! Ten Rings have ties with The Mandarin (Who will be a great villian for IM3)

Well, this was already expected.

By the way there's a mistaken info on the article. The fake papers were for Vanko to get to Monaco, not US.

I remember watching Iron Man and thinking how it was clever to make Mandarins Ten Rings as some sort of terrorist group since "magical alien rings" didnt really fit in with the realistic nature of the film. But now with the start of Phase 2, those "magical alien rings" don't look all that far fetched in the MCU. I'm interested to see the true power of the Mandarin on film

VONARNDT

You do know that the rings in the comics are alien tech-based, not magical,, right?
