Wang Xueqi's (Dr. Wu) Cut IRON MAN 3 Scenes To Be Turned Into A Short Film
The actor (who had all of about ten seconds of screentime in the international version of Iron Man 3 and about three minutes in the Chinese one) may end up having his scenes compiled into a short film entitled, The Prologue. Hit the jump for details!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wang Xueqi's Dr. Wu is set to receive his own short film after being edited out of the international cut of Iron Man 3 and most of the Chinese version too. Entitled The Prologue, it will reportedly feature the full cut of scenes which included the actor meeting a young Tony Stark in the 1990's, a telephone conversation he later has with J.A.R.V.I.S., and him conducting the surgery to remove Stark's arc reactor at the end of the film. This news was confirmed by DMG Entertainment, the blockbuster's Beijing-based co-producers, although it's thought that it will either be released online or on the DVD and Blu-ray (whether that means just the Chinese version remains to be seen). This news may come as a result of bloggers from the country complaining that both Xueqi and Fan Bingbing presence in the threequel were ultimately unnecessary and superfluous to the narrative. Regardless, it's thought that Iron Man 3 will end up grossing close to $200 million in China by the end of its run there.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
