From Academy Award(R)-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"--a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. .

Thou i agree with StrangerX that John Carter of Mars would have been better title.

Hopefully this ends up to be big and epic trilogy like the original Star Wars and The Lord of The Rings.

Mark Strong, Dominic West, Polly Walker and Thomas Haden Church play the bad guys in this or so i heard.

Strong is Matai Shang (Leader of the godlike people known as Holy Therns). West is Sab Than (Prince of Zodanga who wants to rule everything and marry Dejah Thoris) and Church is Tal Hajus (A vicious Emperor of Tharks and number one enemy of Tars Tarkas)

i would like to point out THIS IS NOT A COMIC BOOK MOVIE IT IS A PULP FILM DIFFERENCE COMIC IS A PICTURE BOOK WITH THE SAME DEATH,MISUNDERSTOOD,AND CARTOON VILLAINS STORYLINE USED OVER AND OVER WITH NO CONSEQUENCES TO ITS CONTINUITY PULP IS A THOUGHT OUT SERIES OF NOVELS USUALLY NOT CONTAINING PICS OR ILLUSTRATIONS THEY PAYS ATTENTION TO ITS CONTINUITY. there nuff said and i do love comic it just really makes me mad people cant tell the difference.

[frick]ing Gorgeous. It's been a long time since I've wanted to own a movie poster. Love how they've taken what could've easily looked liked 70's van art throwback and make it look more like 60's pop art design.

If they wanted to avoid more knee-jerk Prince of Persia comparisons, they should not have used the same font!
