The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

The more I see of Urban as Dredd the more I think he'd b a good Punisher, he'd need to bulk up more definetly but I can see it...

Going back to the matter at hand, the film definitely looks interesting, can see it being a cult classic/sleeper hit if not a big hit

The uniforms look great...the eagle on shoulder is very cool looking.
Big fan of Judge Dredd & Urban is usually good in his roles, hope the violence is brutal & not toned down due to the Colorado shooting.

If its like Punisher War Zone I'll dig it. That's one of the most underrated CBM's in my opinion

yeah i didn't mind punisher war zone either didn't feature any oscar worthy performances but ray stevenson was good as frank castle, still better than the two previous punisher films.

still thinking this is the CBM to watch this year looks better than batty and harder hitting than avengers so it might do some boxoffice, one can only hope then there will be a good sequel.

The new uniform is okay but it could have been a HECK of a lot better and more faithful to the 2000AD version. Here is how Karl Urban should have looked:

Smaller helmet - sides reduced, darker fabric, green gloves, raised shoulder pad, badge attached to fabric, chest, badge and arm padding removed, collar removed.

Direct comparison with film version:

@dreddhead123, something about the washed out black doesn't do it for me. Personally I prefer the movie style, it feels more grounded. Though I sort of wish they kept the giant shoulder pads.

The version I've done is close to the original version. There is no collar and the eagle pad would look a bit different but overall that is closer to the 2000AD uniform.

The Urban version:

I don't rate the collar, sticks out way too much, looks silly, and there's too much body padding. The colour scheme is muted. Also, the shoulder pad is too far down the shoulder. Higher up would 'square' the shoulders and give them a broader look. The badge design stuck on a chest pad seems pointless. The Judge Minty fan film uniform has the badge stuck to the fabric of the uniform and it looks perfect.

I don't hate the new look, it's okay, but it could have been better or more faithful. All the excessive padding seems unnecessary and that is not faithful to the original look. It looks as if the designer of this uniform looked at the Chris Nolan Batman uniform and decided to copy bits of it, in particular, the chest padding:

Seems a copy of that chest pad design!

I think the whole armor type design makes sense, it would make less sense for a cop who is constantly in gun fights to wear a leotard. I don't think the designers took ideas from Nolan's Batman, considering the whole concept makes sense for someone who basically lives in a war zone.

I see what you're saying though.

You really have no clue do you???
The Urban costume is a SWAT style costume completely in keeping with an effective spin on Dredd as a motorcycle officer / street combat Judge.
It has no 'snag' points and protects against ballistic damage. The neck is 'rolled' to prevent rear neck injury, the elbow and knee protectors small and sturdy for obvious reasons.
In your version, the badge is able to be grabbed, there is no obvious protection and with huge shoulder pads and eagles there would be limited movement.
I suggest you google SWAT teams and then compare that to the Stallone version and then the Urban version. The new version makes sense.

What do you know... here's dreddhead to tell us how he'd have done it better.

And once again illustrating that he has no thought process except "it doesn't look exactly like the page", with zero thought applied to whether it would work in the physical world.

Not to mention the sheer bullheaded stupidity of trying to rewrite and redesign a movie that's already been made.

It's done. Get behind THIS Dredd movie or you'll never see another. It's that simple.
