POLL: Judge The DREDD Trailer

Now that we've had a few days to absorb the first trailer for Dredd it's about that time to take a poll. Did you find it to be everything you wanted and more or did you feel underwhelmed?

After seeing the new Dredd trailer do you think the film will be better than Sylvester Stallone's version? Does Karl Urban's voice sound too much like Christian Bale's Batman voice, or do you think it sounds correctly like Clint Eastwood? Does the plot of the film seem to borrow too much from the Indonesian action film The Raid: Redemption? Voice your opinion in the poll and the comment section below.

The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One- a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge – a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.

During a routine day on the job, Dredd is assigned to train and evaluate Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), a rookie with powerful psychic abilities thanks to a genetic mutation. A heinous crime calls them to a neighborhood where fellow Judges rarely dare to venture- a 200 story vertical slum controlled by prostitute turned drug lord Ma-Ma (Lena Headey) and her ruthless clan. When they capture one of the clan’s inner circle, Ma-Ma overtakes the compound’s control center and wages a dirty, vicious war against the Judges that proves she will stop at nothing to protect her empire. With the body count climbing and no way out, Dredd and Anderson must confront the odds and engage in the relentless battle for their survival.

The film opens in 3D September 21st.

@nailbiter111

your article is way on fair saying "Does the plot of the film seem to borrow too much from the Indonesian action film The Raid: Redemption?"

DREDD script and production was done way before the The Raid. DREDD script was leaked on the internet few years ago. plus its know this new DREDD movie has borrow elements of the first Die Hard movie. it was describe as a futuristic Die Hard movie.

I'm glad that they went in the direction that they did - Instead of a Sprawling Epic across the entire city, it looks like it's going to be a much smaller, more contained fillm- Dredd trapped alone in a single building with only one other Judge vs. the bad guys- Could turn out to be the Die Hard of Futuristic Cop CBM's....

It looks good. :)

I waited little bit more futuristic city but im happy what we got.

I truelly hope its great and success in box office.
Then we could get a bigger scale sequel with bigger budget and more epic city.... and lots of freaky Cursed Earth mutants!:P

PS. Just bought Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files. Those first strips are awesome and Dredd´s costume reminds alot the one in the movie.
The Robot Wars story would make a epic sequel.

@ jazzman

It doesn't mean that the movie doesn't borrow the same premises from the raid. Unlike Die Hard this isn't a hostage situation, the plot is pretty similar to the raid in the sense that both movies are using law officials (however real or exaggerated they may be). They are both raiding a building, they are both taking down a drug lord, and it's all about getting to the top.

I haven't seen dredd yet, so I can't give it a negative take on it's depth, but the Raid's story was pretty intense and awesome. Without ruining it for everyone it doesn't really pan out like you'd expect it. Secondly the fighting choreography in the raid will probably not be seen in dredd, dredd is def. going to be more about the lead.

In the end people are going to compare the two, because the raid came out first. It was the same with Hunger games and Battle Royale, Armageddon and deep imapct, hell even antz and a bugs life. Can't fight the similarities, just need to focus on the differences, and unfortunately dredd's plot is well much too similar to The Raid's plot.

I will personally loved this movie, but I expect it to get killed by the critics. The trailer was so bad that I know it's going to be great. The first Judge Dredd is a guilty pleasure of mine, so I am super stoked they are rebooting it. I don't read the graphic novel, so I don't give two shits if it follows it closely or not. I can't wait.

Looks great! Never read a single issue allthough i really like this Judge Death dude. Liked the original Judge Dredd movie, of course i loved Flash Gordon and Tron as well so thats how i swing. That being said i did not like Ultra Violet or Aeon Flux so a good trailer can be deceiving. For me i am hopeful this movie lives up to its trailer and rocks out. Oh and i walk with those who thought Prometheus was great...just saying.

Do I dare to say it was...Dredd...ful? Thanks, I'll be here all week!

Seriously though, looks like a generic action movie to me, but to be honest, CaptainAhaBaha's pic is the first and only comic box I've read for Judge Dredd so I don't know what to look for lol

i was expecting more from this reboot, and looking at the trailers made me lose my appetite of considering watching it on theaters. they could have come up with a better teaser at least that would leave a good a taste/tease to start with
