By TheAlexLynch - Oct 29, 2013 11:10 AM EST
Warner Home Video have set a February 4th, 2014 release date for the animated feature, Justice League: War. The feature is based off of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's New 52 graphic novel; Justice League: Origin which chronicles the events that lead to the Justice League becoming a team in a war against Darkseid's forces. Buy the comic that inspired the movie HERE on Amazon.

Below is also artwork to accompany the press release (via World's Finest) which very well may end up being the final DVD/Blu-Ray cover.

When the powerful Darkseid and his massive, relentless forces invade Earth, a group of previously unaligned super heroes – misunderstood and, in some cases, hunted by the authorities – discover the only way to fend off the attack will be to work together as a cohesive unit. Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Shazam and, in his origin story, Cyborg combine their respective talents in an all-out battle to save the planet. Based on the 2012 graphic novel, “Justice League: Origin,” by Geoff Johns & Jim Lee, JUSTICE LEAGUE: WAR provides a glance into the world before the Justice League was created, and offers the initial animated incarnation of DC Entertainment’s “The New 52.”

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, Justice League: War features the voices of Jason O’Mara (Vegas, Terra Nova), Christopher Gorham (Covert Affairs), Justin Kirk (Weeds), Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory, Serenity, Firefly), Michelle Monaghan (Mission: Impossible III), Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds), Sean Astin (LOTR films), Bruce Thomas (Army of Darkness) and Steve Blum (Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox). Producer is James Tucker and director is Jay Oliva from a script by Heath Corson.

I agree. Shazam would be a great live-action film to make. I was just watching the Superman Shazam movie the other day and thought the same. I'm sure WB's thinking the same and wouldn't be surprised if this will be the live-action league going forward with maybe hawkman or hawkgirl added.

I should be Martian Manhunter over there! Cyborg is looking too much like an Iron Man proxy.

Just from the Man of Steel easter eggs alone, here's what the league is looking like so far:

Superman
Batman
Supergirl
Green Lantern
Booster Gold
Hawkman or Hawkgirl
Cyborg

lol @ MakeMineDisney...

I have no idea how good this animated movie will be, but it will better than Marvel's animated offerings...

No, in fact, it's one positive truth when it comes to DC/WB -- they're still the kings of animation in the genre.

Marvel's got the theaters locked down, and I'm pretty sure the Comic market share, too. Stop being greedy...

Placing Shazam and Cyborg on the pedestal before Flash and Green Lantern? Green Lantern and Flash have some of the best dynamics ever.

I love Marvel and I love DC....but Im sorry DC OWNS Marvel in the animation department.

DC Animated films has made 17 direct to DVD movies so far. Only 2 of them can I say suck. Thats a great record.

Marvel on the other hand put out 8 direct to DVD animated movies. Only 2 of them can be labeled just OK. The rest sucked.

I havent seen any Marvel animated DVD movies since Disney took over..but I think Iron Man Rise of the Technovore is it so far right?

The Aquaman movie does not justify this! It's like saying "Green Lantern won't be in this but it's ok cuz he's getting his own movie." No. That's not how this works. Aquaman has only been in 3 DC animated movies but has been cut from this one, this will be Shazams 5th...the change was not justified

Shazam AND Cyborg on the cover but not my main man Flash or GL, that's disrespectful. It's bad enough that they replaced Aquaman.

Was really looking forward to this but was underwhelmed by the trailer, still hope its good.

The story is perfect for a movie and Im excited to see the new 52 on screen for the first time.

Not to nick pick but that cover kinda irks me. Batman front and center, naturally. (rolls eyes). Wheres Flash and Green Lantern?
