JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Says Warner Bros. STILL Tortured Him While He Finished The Snyder Cut

Justice League director Zack Snyder has opened up on his experience making the Snyder Cut, revealing that even then, Warner Bros. continued to "torture" him with passive-aggressive behaviour. Check it out.

Thanks to WarnerMedia (the parent company of Warner Bros. and HBO Max), Zack Snyder was able to finish his vision for Justice League and #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. We know it wasn't a particularly easy undertaking, and there have been hints that the filmmaker clashed with the studio over the movie's title. It's also been confirmed that they forced him to swap Green Lantern for Martian Manhunter.

Talking to Uproxx, Snyder opened up about the process of putting the finishing touches to the Snyder Cut under Warner Bros.' watch, and admits that it wasn't a pleasant experience.

"I don’t want to get in trouble either, but I’m not going to sit here and let them act like that and not... Look, they’re the ones that have been aggressive, not me," he said. "I haven’t done anything. Every day they’d turn around and do some weird passive-aggressive thing. So, I don’t know. It’s weird. But look, like I say, I had a great time making Justice League. I’m super glad I got to finish it."

"It was cool to do the Snyder Cut of Justice League and that was fun and everything. But Warner Bros. still tortured me the whole time for whatever reason, they can’t help it. I don’t know why I’m such a [frick]ing pain in their ass because I’m not trying to be, honestly."

It's crazy that Warner Bros. would still go out of its way to make life difficult for Snyder, but there was likely a lot of resentment among executives that the higher-ups had decided to allow the director to finish a movie they didn't believe should ever see the light of day (you only need to look at the difference between the theatrical and Snyder Cut's Rotten Tomatoes scores for proof of how wrong they were).

Once again, it's looking increasingly unlikely that the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse will yield results, but there was a time we'd have said that about the hashtag mentioned at the top of this story. Whether Snyder will actually want to work with Warner Bros. again, however, is another matter...

Maybe it has to do with them having to waste money on his cataclysmic disasters of film. I don’t know that’s just me.

@xfactor - It's just you. They wasted the money on the Whedon version to begin with. If they let Snyder release a 2-1/2 to 3 hour version to begin with, they'd have saved a lot more money, and made more money from the get go, however that version of the movie would have been received.

@MosquitoFarmer - that’s an extreme reach considering how his first two films went. Movie prophet doesn’t work backwards like that, only in rare occasions does a sequel outdo the original (T2 Judgement day) and this is not the case. And again, his fans harassing the studio (remember the 13 man March in the Warner’s parking lot, hiring propeller planes to fly over the studio demanding the Snyder cut) he’s proven to be a royal pain in the ass. More than he’s worth. That’s my two cents on that l.

@xfactor - A reach? It's the first live action Justice League movie. You think people wouldn't have gone to see it? And how much worse do you think it would have been received than the tepid response to the theatrical cut?

@MosquitoFarmer - the proof is there. And yes it is a reach. The only mistake WB made was keeping him on the roster, when they should’ve canned him from the get go after man of steel. Studios don’t just DUMP money on failing properties, even if it is the justice league. When the first two cinematic outings are indicative as to where these films were going story wise, it’s no wonder. But to you I guess this is the messiah of filmmaking. And that’s alright. But let’s not pretend that he wasn’t getting his fans all riled up to push for his movie, and were disgustingly annoying with their childish, incompetent behavior.

@MosquitoFarmer - How would they have made more money, releasing a longer movie (which means less showings) that people were not excited about?

The Snyder Cut would have grossed around what? $450M? $400M? They should have fired Snyder after MoS, and when the DCEU was still salvageable.

@MosquitoFarmer - Not after BvS.

@RocketRed - thank you! This fanbase for some reason defies all logic when it comes to him. Like “yea his previous movies were bad, but he’s still good!”

@xfactor - It's a cult. Reality and logic doesn't factor into this.

@RocketRed - yea no kidding!

@MosquitoFarmer - dude, they spent money on the whedon version because snyder (understandably) decided to leae the project after the death of his daughter. What were they supposed to do, drop the whole thing? Wait for who knows how long, with all the actors busy with other projects, while keeping the sets standing and rearranging the marketing campaign?

@RocketRed - Considering how much excess money they needlessly wasted in their endeavor, it stands to reason they would have profited well more otherwise.

@roboticJohnson - You’re neglecting that the studio was against his cut of the movie, and wanted to finally change it, resulting in the very different movie we got.

@MosquitoFarmer - but HIS version wasn’t 3 hours....so it would have not made any sense and another BVS situation so ANOTHER bad movie aka waste of money and WB saw that. This is again why you don’t introduce 3 hero’s in a single movie while resurrecting one you killed off in his second while the main guy still doesn’t have a developed plot. Garbage.

And the constant harassment from his “fans” didn’t help the situation either.
