JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Costumes Ranked From Worst To Best

JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Costumes Ranked From Worst To Best

This weekend, Warner Bros. offered up a first look at footage and a team photo from Zack Snyder's Justice League movie. However, which of the costumes belonging to the six heroes is best?...

By far the biggest reveal to come out of Comic-Con this weekend was our first look at the Justice League assembled. There are six members of the team, and in that first official image, they're all rocking very different costumes. While a couple were instantly familiar, others were revealed for the first time or received some major tweaks, and as a result, fans have been left with lots to discuss.

While we're no doubt going to see much more of this team together over the next year or so, it's surprisingly easy to rank their costumes based on what we see in both that image and the trailer. So, what you'll find here is a look at all six superhero suits and an analysis of why they either do or do not work and how they can be improved. The hero who takes the #1 spot may just surprise you though!

6. Cyborg

There's still well over a year to go until Justice League is released, and that gives Zack Snyder hopefully more than enough time to fix Cyborg. While the character's basic appearance is ok - it's pretty faithful to the source material to be fair - he looks like a fully CGI creation in both the trailer and group shot image (with effects reminiscent of what we saw in those early trailers for Green Lantern).

My biggest complaint however would be that he looks a little...weak. This version lacks the bulkiness of his comic book counterpart, and his spindly body and appendages appear as if they could be torn in two by any old Parademon. That's something which was no doubt done to emphasise that he's more machine than man, but a practical costume ultimately may have worked a lot better than this.

5. Superman

I briefly considered not putting Superman on this list because he looks pretty much exactly the same as he did in both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! Literally not a single change appears to have been made to the suit, a disappointment considering the fact that most fans have been hoping we might see him return from the grave rocking a mullet, beard, and that awesome black costume from the comic books.

There's a chance that could still happen and Warner Bros. didn't want to ruin the surprise, but judging Superman off this image alone, his costume remains...just ok. A more prominent belt section would still be nice, while a few subtle changes like the logo being made larger and the colours brightened a little would have been nice. Maybe in, er, Man of Steel 2?

4. Wonder Woman

Maybe we've all just become too used to Marvel Studios changing the costumes of their characters from movie to movie, but it's also disappointing to see Wonder Woman still sporting the same look from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While it's true that if ain't broke you shouldn't fix it, it would have been nice to see Diana embrace a slightly different appearance now that she's outed herself to the world after decades of hiding.

The colours look good, but there are no obvious differences, and that feels like a missed opportunity (especially when you look back over all of the different costumes she's worn in the comics over the years). Still, the suit looks great, but the reason it doesn't rank higher is because there are other members of the League who just manage to outshine her thanks to their new looks!

3. Aquaman

That first official image of Aquaman was more than a little divisive, so it's good to see that Zack Snyder has ditched the shirtless look with those tattoos which resembled scales to give Arthur Curry some badass armour. Of course, the trailer features his still showing those off, but this battle ready costume feels way more appropriate and does a good job of utilising the green and gold colours he's known for.

It's obviously pretty different to what he wears in the source material, but making that work in live-action was always going to be tough, especially on a pretty mean looking dude like Jason Momoa. This however is pretty much perfect, and his costume also have an ancient look to it which makes it easy to imagine it coming from an ancient underwater nation like Atlantis.

2. Batman

As we've already established, Zack Snyder left Superman and Wonder Woman's costumes alone after Dawn of Justice, and seeing as Batman's look in that movie was pretty much perfect, he could have just as easily done the same for the Caped Crusader. However, the filmmaker moving on from the character's The Dark Knight Returns inspired suit is no bad thing, and his all black suit looks fantastic.

It also looks like it may have been a little more streamlined to Ben Affleck doesn't look quite so chunky (say goodbye to those "Fatman" jokes), while subtle changes to things like the cowl and gauntlets give the hero a fresh new feel as we head into Justice League. Why the same doesn't apply to the rest of The Trinity is hard to say, but despite these improvements, Batman still narrowly misses out on the top spot...

1. The Flash

Based on the descriptions which came from the set of Justice League a while back, I expected The Flash to look terrible. However, Snyder has actually nailed the Scarlet Speedster's look, successfully making him stand out from the small screen version while still doing something very different with it.

The wires holding everything together don't feel entirely necessary, but do add an interesting new dimension to the suit, and given the amount of electricity he gives off when he moves, they may end up have a similar affect on the character's appearance in The New 52. While it's thought that Batman creates a new costume for The Flash at some point, this is a great start for The Fastest Man Alive, and definitely stands out as arguably the best one in this first look at the assembled team.

Which of the costumes from Justice League is your favourite? Do you agree with this ranking or do you have your own? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Cyborg reminds me a little too much of the recent Transformer movies, specifically, the tank version of Megatron.

Can't be [frick]ed with clicking next 4-5 more times.

@Dotanuki - Cyborg looks horrible and he talks like a puppet. I wish they used both practical and cgi for him, not 90% cgi like what the frick?

@Dotanuki - Yeah I feel like if they smooth out the design it'll look much better but it'll be polished some time soon (I hope)

I really liked Wonder Woman's costume for BvS, it updated her traditional costume, made it look modern, and added a Greco-Roman element to it that I think works really well. However, it really stands out (and not in a good way) in the group shot. Every single character in the group shot is wearing an outfit that covers all or most of their skin. Wonder Woman not covering up like everyone else looks jarring by comparison. She stands out as looking completely unprepared for battle: five guys fully clothed, and one in underwear.

@CavalierTunes - and i am totally ok with that. looks nice and tasty.

@ALostCause - This is why we can't have nice things. Fanboys get a bad rap because many vocal fanboys are too concerned with their own dicks than common sense. If you had said "there's only so much you can do and still have her look like Wonder Woman," that would've been fine. But, instead, you had to go make a comment about how she looks "tasty."

And maybe you do think revealing costumes are attractive. But your method of expressing it makes you sound not like a grown man, but a 13-year old boy with an immature understanding of sex. I get it: you like women; you have a dick; naked women make you horny. Can we grow up now and talk about how Wonder Woman looks strange next to everyone else in the picture because of how underdressed she looks at first glance compared to everyone else?

@CavalierTunes - wow it was a joke dude lol

yeah it looks strange, but part of wws character in some renditions is that she likes showing her skin to express her freedom as a woman. it's similar to the idea of "free the nipple"

just relax dude
